sheesh.

Client just notified me that the massive renovation ( part of the agreement for landing SB) is frozen as of Monday. MASSIVE renovation to Dome. dead.

Does no one think about these things when schedules and push for 17 game season comes up???

dang.

hopefully it gets figured out.

It will get rescheduled. If I remember right, it's because the Super Bowl date and Mardi Gras overlap, or are real close to each other. I think there was a thread here not long ago that got in to the details.

NOLA.com/Advocate & WWL not reporting that yet so I would hopefully say it is just a rumor .

This was announced a couple of weeks ago. There may be a scheduling conflict and the Superbowl will just be pushed back a year here if thats the case.

The scheduling conflict with Mardi Gras is an entirely different issue than the "dead" renovation project. But I don't think the renovation project is dead at all.

It has been reported already that NOLA may be losing the 2024 SB because of Mardi Gras that year. Mardi Gras is on 2/13 and the Superbowl is the Sunday before which is already NOLA's biggest tourist weekend.

It will likely result in NOLA getting the 2025 SB, with MG being on 3/4/25, several weeks after the Superbowl. I believe Las Vegas or LA will then get 2024, but that's based on nothing.

Alternatively, maybe NOLA and Arizona are flip flopping years. This would give NOLA the SB and MG in consecutive weekends in 2023.

IF contract work is being haulted, I would think that it may be to renegotiate schedules and possible changes if they have more or less time.
