Taylor Swift plays the piano and guitar - writes songs on them and plays them regularly in her performances. I think that qualifies as “actually plays instruments”.

But if you mean where the artist plays an instrument throughout the show, you’d have to go back to Prince (2007) as far as solo artists go. I suppose you could count Tom Petty (2008) or Bruce (2009) but they’re there as leads of their band.

The last two band shows were Coldplay (2016) and The Who (2010).

Yeah… I know she plays some music. I’m just tired of musical acts devolving into borderline striptease shows.

Now, don’t get me wrong… striptease shows are fine and dandy, but keep them separate from my live music, baby!

Edit to add: Give me, like, Rage Against the Machine at the Super Bowl. I know that type of venue is totally against that band’s whole identity, but that type of arse kicking band would tear the roof off.

I have two girls - so I have heard her a lot but I think she’s pretty good. As female pop stars go she’s the best of her generation, I think many of her songs are well crafted. What’s funny is the thing that got me most open to her music when Ryan Adams, who I liked a lot at the time, covered 1989 - which I thought was really cool. She has also recorded with Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner. I’m more of an indie-rock, jam band, classic rock guy but I admit I think she’s got chops. I mean it's pop, but one can do much, much worse.
