No matter what you think of Payton, I liked watching an offense that pushed the ball down the field. Deep passes, intermediate passes had the backups for the Rams on their heels all night. Just my observation. Stidham looked pretty good.

That’s the first game that the teams offense looked familiar. It didn’t look familiar with RW yet. SP is trying to build confidence and hope to reach new levels of success. Even we are saying, hmm, could Denver be good?

Running Payton offense is difficult. I often wonder why all but Drews can't run it efficiently. Teddy did a good job with it but he wasn't ask to do too much. He is the type that can adapt to any type of system. West coast system is a complex system that require offensive lines, tight ends and running backs to do a lot more. It is a great system when every area work in sync. I don't know much about Stidham and he did a good job doing it last night. It does make me wonder about Russell Wilson. He has never been good in using his running back and tight ends. Back then with Seattle, he used his legs to create plays and got away with busted coverages. Remember when Jimmy Johnson tried to change Dan Marino? Quarterback like Dan Marino, Brett Favre, and other gunslinger would struggle in this type of offense. I would be wondering if Wilson continue to struggle this year. After 3 games if he does, people would be calling for Stidham to come in.

Payton runs a timing offense, Wilson is an off schedule QB. Something will have to give in their relationship

NGL, It was awkward seeing him, Dwayne, Tony, and lil Jordan in that Denver orange and blue. I honestly hate how he left. I still don't understand why it was so important for him to leave a situation where he had so much control. My brother said maybe he felt like he's done enough here. I guess i'm just bitter about it, but I want them to implode.

I want Denver to get about the third overall pick in the draft next year. Make our pick #35 in the second round. I don't want him to have his choice at QB and I want the team who picks first to NOT be in the NFC South. Those are pretty much my draft hopes for nest year, besides the Saints using the selection they earned from the season to pick #32 overall.

So, here is the thing. The offense that we saw Drew run his time here wasn't "Payton's" offense per se. It was Drew's offense, as CSP built the offense centered around him, so yes, Drew would be the perfect QB to run it. He is building the offense around Russ and I honestly believe that he will be a lot better offensively this season than he was last, if he doesn't have in his mind that he is the type of QB he wanted to believe that he was. If he lets CSP cater the offense to him, his legacy could stay in tact.

But I agree 100% on your assessment with Russ and I said this when we were wanting to give up the house for him. His moonball is 2nd to none but he has red flags just like any other QB.

On a side note, in his prime, Drew was seen as a gunslinger

Payton will be getting rid of Wilson at the end of this year. He’ll probably get a 2nd router for him as well as another player. Maybe a guard.

Jared Stittam is the future in Denver. Russ and Payton will hate each other by week 7, if not sooner.

His fifteen year run with Brees is protected. It’s like a checkpoint.
Everything he does in Denver is just an add on.
