Punches in New York?

My niece lives in NYC and she was in town for the Holiday Weekend. We were discussing this topic and she said it started off as people punching women trying to post on Social Media and acting like the City revolved around them but then it escalated into people just walking up to random people punching women in the face. There are people walking up to a group of women and punching one of them in the face. It really has gotten out of control. She hasn't experienced this yet but she has had coworkers who have been assaulted.

Seems social media has the same contagion issues as real world.

In short, contagion theory argues that collective behavior is irrational and results from the contagious influence of the crowds in which individuals find themselves.

Good news is courts are not accepting collective behavior as an excuse post Jan 6th.

One of the hardest lessons to teach/learn in dance is how to fall
And I’ve realized the major stumbling block is that people make bad (self defeating ) anatomical choices in the hope of protecting their face
If someone is falling forward, their instinct is to use their arms to break their fall - that puts digits, wrists, elbows, shoulders (even knees) in an unnecessarily compromised position
The sensible thing to do is tuck the arm and roll into the fall - if anything gets impacted, it’s the back meat

What I’m saying is that a learned anxiety about protecting the face can lead to some bad choices

Yup, same with skateboarding....learning how to fall is how you don't kill yourself....

Someone just so happened to have sent me a video of that Siboky guy and he has a whole verified Instagram account where he videos himself walking around harassing people as well as other unintelligible rants. He's clearly mentally unwell and he harasses police officers, women and the type of people who physically cannot give him a dose of his own medicine. He doesn't EVER step to any strong tall men his size. He's been arrested, checked into a mental hospital, etc. and they continue to release him and he continues to harass and assault innocent bystanders.

They seriously need to reestablish locking people away in mental institutions.

I don't see how protecting the face is a "learned" anxiety rather than an inherent one. That being said, it's not inherent in me to go for the groin kick, so I need to "learn" that because I don't know karate and I don't have a CCW.

Only if you are choosing to turn a blind eye to it

I don't feel sorry for anyone who gets attacked/killed by a shark. You are going into his habitat, thats where he lives and eats.
Now if you were coming out of a walmart and you get attacked by a shark, then, i would feel bad for you..lol

Are you trying to say that Sharknado wasn't a documentary?

Sounds like he is attempting to gaslight you into believing that your face doesn't need to be protected and you are being irrational for wanting to protect your face from random punches on the streets of New York.

bc there are better, instinctive ways to get the same results (tucking and rolling) than the inefficient ways (catching your weight in your arms)
Where do you stand on my groin kick methodology?

Right!
