What skill set do you think he has? He's 6' 5", but he's only like 200 lbs. He's not a physical receiver or really a contested catch guy. He's just tall.

And I'm not throwing shade, I'm just trying to understand what skills you think he has that makes him special and what skills you think he brings that he lacks. In my admittedly amateur opinion, he's a guy that can't run the full route tree and it best just running deep routes and taking advantage of his height. He doesn't run great or precise routes, but he is good at moving around and finding open spots when a play breaks down which is why he tends to make some big plays but doesn't consistently get open or produce.

To me he is a tall guy that plays a fines game and isn't as physical as you would think he would be at his height. IMO, he's kind of a taller, slower, version of Shaheed. Although Shaheed runs elite deep routes, particularly Posts, which Perry does not do.

That to me he has an interesting skill set, but I think the first thing a WR needs to do is run good routes, run as many routes as possible, and be a guy that can create separation and Perry hasn't developed that ability at this point. Maybe he will and maybe he will get stronger so he can play more physical, but I think it's going to take him at least another offseason and training camp to do it.

But, I'm no pro talent evaluator so I could be wrong.

But you keep obsessing about a sixth string WR who no one in the league deemed worthy of a waiver claim. Not one single team.

When he was drafted, the talk around him was his ability to get 50/50 balls and how we didn't have someone on the roster like that. I don't have any film on him and going purely off of memory, but he made contested catches, won 50/50 match-ups.

Some of this was in preseason (and you can make the argument if he was going against NFL caliber players), but I also recall when he used his height and catching ability to catch a TD pass over a corner and wrestle the ball away from him. I've seen Carr throw some passes to where he expected the receiver to go up and get it over a defender, but the receiver didn't have the size to do so. Even that INT (which shouldn't have never been thrown) could have been an opportunity for Perry to get it.

Our roster was littered with Big receivers at one point, and he's no Brandon Coleman. To an extent, he reminded me of a young Colston. Either way, he made plays and this thread (along with others) wouldn't exist if the Saints would have cut Mason Tipton or Bub Means instead.

Sorry bruh, but 12 catches on 18 targets for 246 yards doesn't really scream DOG to me.

We overhyped him cause the 2 touchdown catches against the Vikings. With the exception of the arsewhopping we gave the falcons he never had a game with over 2 catches.

He's tall, but he can't get open and plays soft.

in stats when you have a small sample size, like 12 catches, then you know better than to compare that stat with something of a much larger sample size.

To show sample size in better light, K Miller had a yards per target hirer than Shaheed. You gonna tell me Miller is a better long ball receiver than Shaheed?

Yep. He's made for broken plays where a gun slinging QB who thinks he can make any throw, throws a ridiculous pass across the field and he catches it because he's taller than the other guy. Plus those TDs came in bunches and he did very little except for in 2 games.

Being 6' 5" is an advantage at times, but it's about all he really has. That and he has solid hands. But, he's not a great route runner and he plays like a fines guy who happens to be 6' 5". His best skill is as a deep ball threat and we already have two guy who do that better than him.

Like I said, I think he he has some physical skill, mostly height, that you can't teach, but he doesn't run good routes and he apparently can't learn the playbook. And if you can't do that, you can't get on the field to make plays.
