Saints planned to interview Mike McCarthy; McCarthy didn’t garner enough interest from Saints and will take a year off (5 Viewers)

Yes, I'll take the 2006 Sean Payton prototype, which compares to the best young coaches in the game today and totally fits the Saints current entropic culture. Get me a fresh young mind, hungry to win and earn.

Mike is a lazy and safe hire from yesteryear. How does he relate to and inspire the young players today for a shared mission? How is he in any way a culture fit? He's got the same befuddled body language as Dennis, who was a skinny retread.

What if McCarty goes on Ozempic and gets his hair cut by the same guy as McVay? Would that make him sexy enough for you?

Love is love, man. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Fun fact - Mike McCarthy has had only five losing seasons in his 18 year head coaching career…

2008: GB 6-10
2017: GB 7-9
2018: GB 4-7-1 (fired)
2020: DAL 6-10
2024: DAL 7-10

In 2017, his starting QB Aaron Rodgers missed significant time due to injury, playing in only 7 games.

In each of this two losing seasons in Dallas, 2020 and 2024, his starting QB Dak Prescott missed significant time, playing in only 5 games in ‘20 and 8 games in ‘24.

So, 18 seasons, 5 losing seasons, 3 of which involved him not having his starting QB for more than half of the season.

This guy is a flat-out winner, knows how to build a program, and I want him to be our head coach.
I would also add that 2008 was Rodgers' first season as a starter, so growing pains were inevitable.

The fact that fans are settling for this is even more wild to me. Shouldn't surprise me, honestly. Can't wait for the wonderful McCarthy Era of Haslett tier Saints football. Hope this is what y'all really want.

The overreactions to the thought of hiring a guy with a career .608 winning percentage and a Super Bowl win are hilarious. You would think we were thinking about hiring DA back instead of a likely Hall of Fame head coach with a nearly identical record to Sean Payton.

The only reason the Cowboys won that many games under McCarthy is because of Dan Quinn and his defense. The offense has been terrible outside of a few games where they beat up on sub .500 teams. That’s supposed to be McCarthy’s calling card. That’s a red flag IMO.
I was going to say something similar. I like McCarthy, but he needs god coordinators to mke itwork.

nom nom nom nom

The timing is perfect! Maybe they'll serve Cheese Curds, 2010 style.

Dak's best years were under McCarthy.

My pics are. McCarthy., Flores, Moore, Brady, and then Glenn

Geniunely asking, why do people want Flores after the high profile debacle with Tua...which sort of corroborated the reports that he had a general lack of ability building relationships with....just about anyone from the practice squad to ownership in Miami?

I get he seemed like he mightve regretted some of it, either geniunely or at the direction of his agent I dont know. But this is going to be a pressure cooker here for a year or two trying to resurrect this roster. It seems like taking a chance on a guy like him is far riskier than Glenn.
