Saints met with top QB prospect Cam Ward [Schefter: CLE, NYG or maybe Saints have to make an offer compelling enough for #1 pick]

They didn’t go to pick 1 for him. That carries a different level of weight, a different level of compensation.
It still cost the Chiefs a future 1st round pick and another day 2 pick. Going from pick 9 to pick 1 will probably require 1 more high pick, but make no mistake both scenarios are big investments. If Moore thinks Ward is "the guy" at QB, then I'm all for it.

Panthers traded a 2023 first and second, a 2024 first, a 2025 second, and their star WR D.J. Moore to go from 9 to 1.

The two trades are nowhere near comparable, not to mention the significantly different financial commitment involved with the 10th pick versus the 1st pick.

Not saying the guy isn’t worth it if Moore thinks he’s great; just acknowledging that we are talking about a much different level of risk involved.

Yes there was a higher day 2 pick, and an additional day 2 pick 2 years later, and an at the time disgruntled WR that wasn't living up to his contract extension included in the trade. It was more draft capital, like I said in the previous post, but not so much more where it would deter me from making the trade if Moore wants him as our QB.

But, I agree this deal is highly unlikely to happen. The one way I think maybe the Titans do this deal is if we can find a way to move up to #4 with New England by trading them Olave for the move up to #4. Then we trade #4 (and other picks) to the titans for #1. #4 should put the Titans in position to take either Carter or Hunter.

That makes sense, the patriots have been linked to any and every WR free agent or trade target for the past few years. They also need oline help. They potentially could fill both need with Olave and pick #9. I have no idea what is his value tho. Recent WR trades have been for day 3 picks but they also weren't on their rookie contract

Titans have lowered their original cost. Ward @ his pro day having words w/ Titans Brass “sealing the deal” the Titans setting up a private workout.

They aren’t sold on him.

Rather go to a team that is.

Y’all need some kind of reality drug if you think. We are going to waste multiple picks

Historically speaking, it is far more likely for the Saints to trade up than not. If they'll trade up for a small school project DE in the first, it would take an unbelievable asking price to keep them from moving up to #1 overall for a guy they believe will be the face of the franchise for the next fifteen years.
