My gut feeling & 2 cents on Mason Taylor... (1 Viewer)

I believe that Mason Taylor will be the next super tight end to come out of the draft.
And if you what to "move the chains" as they say the Saints should target him sooner than later!!
I for one certainly hope so. I'm rooting for him but, you just never know with TEs. I was one of those that felt Thaddeus Moss was going to be a good one but he quickly flamed out.

I’d love him in the 2nd. There is an enormous tier of pass catchers in that round. There’s also pretty amazing 3rd-4th round RBs as well. Sampson/Skattaboo with Kamara would be $$$…and there are many others that would potentially beat our Miller immediately.

I always thought it was weird that considering his dad was an absolute freak of an athlete, that Moss was so unathletic.....he was good at the college level because he could use his huge frame to ward off defenders and he excelled at run blocking......but he was dreadfully slow.....no way he was going to be able to consistently get open in the NFL.....

I really like Mason Taylor, I'm an LSU fan but not the type that thinks every LSU player is going to be great......I think he is going to be really good and hope we can get him in the 3rd....

I see mock drafts where Mason Taylor is the 32nd pick, mid 2nd, and even a high 3rd. His pick range is pretty crazy.

The thing about TEs is that you have to use them in the correct way. Thad Moss was pretty good, not anywhere near the level of his dad talentwise. Mason Taylor could be very good, if you use him right. Look at the Gates/Brees connection in SD. Use him right, and he could be a star.

I do think he’s going to be a good one, with the right team of course. I’m a die hard lsu fan of course. While I don’t think he’s going to be the best TE to come out, he’s got all the makings to be very good.

And yet, despite all this, the threads cheerleading him as a prospect pre-draft, post-draft and post-cut kept popping up.

I can't for the life of me figure out the reason.

I think Mason will be available in the third.

I can think of a 3 letter reason.....he went to.....LSU.....also I think winning an NC probably helps....but I was not surprised at all when he wasn't drafted.....

I'm an LSU fan, but not the type (and there are way too many) who think every LSU player is going to be great.....I argued with this guy on a different board years ago (maybe the old Nola board) about a player named Trev Faulk.....he was a really good LB for LSU at the college level.....they listed him at 220-230, but he looked more like 210-215, he was the classic tweener.....not a knock, he was really good and I think has had a successful coaching career.....

So he tried bulking up before the draft to about 230-240, and ran a 4.9 40 and his quickness drills were not good either.....he lasted all of 2 seasons in the NFL.....and didn't turn out to be the Pro Bowl LB that this guy seemed to be so certain about.....
