Saints Draft Prospects’ Visits and Workouts (22 OL, 15 Edge, 15 DB, 11 WR, 10 DL, 10 QB, ..) [full reported list in OP] [105 prospects] (17 Viewers)

This may be moot at this stage, since it seems we now MAY be forcibly locked into QB at 9, but just passing along the info…

Nah not moot at all, I don’t think the saints go QB at 9.

I don't think the Saints go QB at 9 either....

I think the play is to go BPA (impact player on offense preferably IMO) at 9 like Jeanty, Warren, TMac, etc.

Then trade up from 40 back into the late 1st round for a QB that falls.... Which could end up being Sanders or Dart - To get that 5th year option.

They could also sit tight at 40 (or even trade back a little) and take someone like Milroe, Shough, Gabriel, or Ewers.

In any case... I don't think we are waiting for round 3 or later to get a QB either.

Bingo, Warren at 9 then trade back into first for Dart.

It will of course incense you, but the best options for the Saints in round one are going to be at Edge/OLB, G/T and CB (latter if they get lucky with how the picks fall).

Prepare to get your Dave Robbins on...

Not so... As I have already stated in other threads.... Since the Carr news broke - My outlook for this season has totally changed, as has my outlook for the draft in correspondence...

If Carr were still the projected starter... Yeah - Load up on offensive weapons at all costs...

But... If this team has to start a Rookie or 2nd year player at QB (which seems likely now) - There is no point in worrying about what position we draft at 9...

This team will be on the struggle bus this year no matter who we draft at 9... And while I'd prefer we stock up on offensive weapons to help our young QB... The reality is... We've hit the rebuild... and we need help everywhere...

So I am now at - BPA at 9... Emphasis on finding our QB of the future at every pick we make from here on out...

I do now recall you posting this, but didn't expect you to really lean into it, when it came to the crunch. I welcome this new, pragmatic outlook.

Slow down sir.... It only became pragmatic when Carr pulled his "Injury Card".... Otherwise I'd still be on the other side of this... I am - However - Able to have a change of viewpoint, when the point of view changes...

Which in this case - It did. There was nothing to lean into in this instance. Cheers bruh...

Sure thing 😉

I think Nick Emmanwori could end up being the sleeper pick at 9. Dude fits the team’s athletic & size profile to the letter. Plus, Kellen Moore’s comment a while back about drafting “impact players” regardless of position or label, makes me think he could be the guy even more. Emmanwori’s positional & alignment versatility is tailor made for Staley’s pattern match, 2 high Safety scheme.

I have the LSU, Bama, & OK games on my YoutubeTV & rewatched them over the weekend to study up on Dart. But it eventually shifted to Emmanwori. What you almost never see on the highlights & condensed film is how a player interacts w/teammates & coaches. Emmanwori seems like a really good teammate. He’s hype on the sideline, really high energy guy.

Game-wise, i think Emmanwori’s positional flexibility makes him an instant day 1 contributor, if not a starter. South C lined him up from the single, to 2 high, to the STAR, to CB, to LB. The dude was responsible for a lot of things on their D. He’s a true force vs the run & has the ability erase TEs, RBs, & possession receivers at every level of the field. On top of that, he’s a true ballhawk & a hard hitting tone setter on D. Twitched up, short area dynamos could give him trouble in coverage & in the open field, but that mutant size, length & strength at the position can compensate for that.

From what ive watched, i think Emmanwori has legit All Pro potential. 9 may seem a tad rich, but i wouldnt be mad at all if he was our guy. He get’s comped a lot to Derwin James & it’s all valid, but in my opinion, he’s kind of like a gamma radiated hulked out version of Tyrann Mathieu.

Fan of his game, fan of the person.
