This is sort of a gray zone here. It's definitely in the public interest, but based on the tweet, I'm going to have to lock this thread. There is no way this doesn't become overly political.

I guess, but also there's a point at which it doesn't matter. Like if we found out there was a huge government cover up in the Lincoln assasination, it wouldn't matter because everyone's dead. At sone point the people with power today can expose the guilty of yesterday without repercussion and maybe even to some added goodwill.Anything important in those files was destroyed long ago. Not even the govt is stupid enough to keep files that will prove they had anything to do with it.
I get that, but what if it points to something deeper or darker. Like some kind of untouchable section of the CIA that is known to those in power and used in cases they deem necessary. That's the sort of thing I'm talking about. If one of the 3 letter agencies was involved in this, it could have serious repercussions.I guess, but also there's a point at which it doesn't matter. Yep, another batch just dropped. They did say it was going to take a few days. This one is about as big as the first release.Side note...80,000 pages so maybe something later down road comes out. Who knows.
The collection of records that we reviewed, the vast majority of which were released — some were kept classified in whole or in part — if that’s what we’re talking about, then there is no smoking gun,” he told CNN in a phone interview.
“If there had been anything that cut to the core of the assassination, the Review Board would have released it in the mid-’90s. So there is a sense of what the records are,” he went on.
There's going to be more unclassified docs released over the coming days that historians haven't seen. Trump's deputy chief of staff said it's going to shock Americans. So this is gong to be a bummer?
