23/24 EPL season (2 Viewers)

Kane to Bayern agreed by Tottenham. Now its up to Kane to decide if he really wants to leave without England's goal record. It'll be an interesting few days. Except for Spurs fans, but nobody cares about them. :hihi:

I just don't know how anybody catches City. Too much money, too much talent, and Pep is just the right coach for that kind of set-up.

Not sure LFC will have all the new players knit in together fast enough to stay with City from the jump, although they will have the dubious advantage of no CL this year.

United, Arsenal and Newcastle will all be stong, and Tottenham will gently disappoint once again.

Here's to a great season for all.

#YNWA
And to think City started slow last year to incorporate Haaland into attack - won’t have that issue this year - I’m sure their focus will be on getting the quad
And that probably means their B squad gets real minutes which ultimately will make them even stronger
If Salah can return to form, I’ll go with MC, Newcastle & Arsenal tied then Liverpool

Just for fun let’s put the Fighting Kanes in a relegation battle with Everton

NNOOOOOOO I’ve gotten so used to rooting against Spurs

true...but if you pay attention to the players they single out, then it can make some sense.

I really dont like all this "9, false 9, 10" etc. Makes it waaay more complicated than it has to be for newcomers to follow. Speak in laymans terms or you will just turn folks off to the game who dont know what a "false 9" is and supposed to do ( tactically ). You can simply watch his movement in between the back and mid line to see what he trying to do- find the empty space, draw defender(s), distribute when defense now out of balance.

But here is a good primer for understanding it.

something something double pivot

I can definitely agree the language creates a barrier for newcomers (while pandering to the diehards who are most likely to tune in). I considered getting one of the two “history of soccer tactics” books that show where the game has been to lead it to where it is now, but I don’t know if I want to get lost in the minutiae of soccer’s version of the wing T.

Ive read Soccernomics and How Soccer changed the World - both are excellent ( but more about culture than tactics)
From what I’ve heard, ‘inverting the pyramid’ is the best primer on tactics

That’s one of the two I was looking at (inverting the pyramid), the other was zonal marking.

Soccernomics sounds like my kind of book without even knowing what’s in it.

we get treated to Reds vs Blues Sunday am.

Right out the gate, one of those two will be bottom of the table come Monday ;)

Liverpool will need 3 goals a match for they will give back at least 2. Still have no defensive midfielder (for now) and questions with the back 4. Liverpool and Chelsea are bidding against each other for players and FSG not tossing out the cash
