It is hard to understand the impact of that album today. At the time, the Beatles peers were overwhelmed by it. Jimmy Hendrix played the title track at a show three days after the release, the Stones made a psychedelic album in response, Brian Wilson acknowledged the mastery of the album in interviews, and it was iconic enough that both Paul and George featured their outfits in later music videos. For those of you too young to recall the Beatles just wait for the mainstream press coverage in three years.
