A blocking wide receiver who can catch (1 Viewer)

Keon Coleman.

If he’s there in the 2nd we have to take him. He’s everything we wanted Trequan to be and more!

Seriously, look at these run blocks!

Not a huge Coleman fan. Really, really struggled to create any separation down the stretch.

Wouldn't mind him in the 2nd but would absolutely hate him in the 1st.

I wonder if a guy like Tyler Boyd from the Bengals might be an option in free agency. He's already 30 years old so it's not a long term answer, but he might be a good fit for a slot guy who can block.

Everything we wanted Tre'quan to be? That man's issue wasn't ability. It was scheme fit and availability.

It's not only the physical skills, it's the attitude.

I'd be fine with Coleman if he is BPA in the 2nd. We do need a contested catch guy, he can block, and it never hurts to have another weapon. But, my hope is that there are OLs and DLs that are BPA with our first two picks. Then we can use our later round picks looking for some gems at WR and other positions.

While Olave and Shaheed aren't yet good blockers, they can be coached up and a lot of WR blocking is attitude. Beyond that, Bowden is already a good blocker and Taysom can block when he splits out. And, while having good blocking WRs is preferable, Miami runs the same offense without great blocking WRs so it takes time to remake your roster to fit exactly the scheme you use. It's just been so long that we have had the same offense we aren't used to not having the right fits at each position on offense.

Ok @jahsoul357…..you are my guy, but between this take and your Mahomes take, I’m starting to get a little concerned🤣
Don't do me like that...haha.
I saw how Tre'quan played in college and I'm of the belief that we got him 5 years too late. Tre'quan was always an intermediate/deep threat and his best games as a Saints sees him in that "role." But he couldn't stay healthy, so there's that..lol

Miami's version is a regular season version of that offense and flawed b/c they went all speed with no power and blocking. It's why they got bullied down the stretch and in the playoffs.

I mean sure, but you can't sit Olave and Shaheed on the bench when they are by far the best weapons we have. So, you either need to teach them to block or figure something else out. And maybe long term those guys aren't right for the offense or maybe you can only have one of them on the field. Then you move on from one or both when you have a replacement. But, for now you just have to try to teach them to block.

Say what you want about Trequan, Brandon Coleman, Keith Kirkwood, etc.-- you need blocking WRs to make the running game work. I think Shaheed and Olave are wonderful WRs, but they're not blocking WRs.
Honestly, I strongly believe that Blockzilla’s blocking ability was over exaggerated on this board. When some realized that he offered next to nothing in the pass game, they had to find something to warrant him sticking around on the roster. Thats a common place for sunshine pumpers in fanbases. Personally, I thought

Michael Hoomanawanui was a way better blocker than Blockzilla
