Brees is subject to lots of these First x Games comps because his seasons in San Diego were largely mid (save for one great one).

Brees is a first ballot HoFer and Top 10 all time QB because of what he did later in his career.

Brady also has something similar as he didn't become a super QB until later in his career.

As already stated, the Charger years are a bad comp because that's not the HOF version of Drew Brees. There's no indication that Mayfield will transcend to that version of Brees either.

You won't get much Mayfield love, even tho we appreciate the Drew nod. We damn sure don't want to see Baker's second half of his career look like Brees.

One is one of the greatest to ever lace them up and one is barely in the top 20 QB's in the NFL at this very moment. Nothing about them is comparable lol

For those wondering without wanting to have to look it up, those were Brees' numbers through Week 1 of the 2008 season and includes 3 playoff games (two from 2006 and one from 2004).

Mayfield's also includes 4 playoff games to get to that "95 game" total since he only has 91 regular season games so far in his career.

Unless Mayfield throws for 5,000 and 30+ TD's this year, these comparisons won't be very similar by the time Baker reaches 110 games.

Noooooo. I gotta stop you there. When Brees started out he had Marty and his small ball offense. Back when drew started out defenders could bodyslam a reciever Tommy Lee Lewis style and tape thier hands together before the ball arrived.

Now if you blow air at a WR, its defensive pass interference. Lets not also forget Baker has had all star talent at WR, TE, and RB to work with. Landy, Odell, Njoku, Hooper, Kareem, Chub, Godwin, Evans. Outside of Gates and L.T im hard pressed to figure out what drew had to work with.

Yeah, won his 3rd SB at the age of 28. Brady started great and stayed that way.
