<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=3 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD align=left>PICK #10 The Saints Pick:
Leodis McKelvin (CB, Troy State)

</TD></TR><TR><TD align=left>After a magical season in 2006, the Saints started off slow and failed to recover in 2007. Drew Brees wasn’t himself, especially early in the year, and problems on the offensive line in addition to an injury to Deuce McAllister meant struggles for the Saints offense. However, from a talent standpoint, the Saints have what it takes on offense, but could really use a boost on defense. If DT Sedrick Ellis were to fall to them here, the Saints would most likely take him. If not, other needs include LB and CB, and Leodis McKelvin of Troy is one of the best defensive backs in the draft. McKelvin has everything you look for in a CB. Average size, good speed, good hips, and a fluid backpedal; the only real knock on McKelvin is his inability to finish off a good play with an interception. He gets his hands on a ton of balls, but unfortunately doesn’t have the interception numbers usually synonymous with a top 10 CB. However, that problem is definitely something he can work on, as his pure coverage ability is top-notch. As a senior, much of his competition wisely threw away from him, resulting in two interceptions and 11 passes defended. Also a return man, McKelvin brought back three punts for touchdowns in 2007. At the Senior Bowl, McKelvin dominated the one-on-one drills during practice and likely boosted his stock, even though he did not play in the game due to a mild injury.

PICK #40 The Saints Pick:
Pat Sims (DT, Auburn)

PICK #78 The Saints Pick:
Wesley Woodyard (LB, Kentucky)

McKelvin in my opinion is a year away from starting so I think that it would be alright but none of those guys will have an instant impact.

I don't know about the 3rd round pick, but the 1st and 2nd are fine.
Combine Risers and Sliders: LB

Risers:

Wesley Woodyard Jr., Kentucky: Woodyard was the speediest linebacker in attendance, clocking 4.50 seconds in his forty, with a few watches reading as fast as 4.47 seconds. He was fluid and displayed quick feet during the practice session which is important. Woodyard weighed in at just 227 pounds, which makes him a one-gap linebacker candidate.

Woodyard is a pretty good LB. I'd rather see Highsmith or Adibi
I would rather Adibi also, but they had him going 4 picks before us to Carolina.

SI said Woodyard would be a one gap LB. What kind of scheme would have a one gap LB?

During teh combine yesterday they were talking about how great Adibi would be in a cover 2 scheme, so i dont think he would help us much, plus he is not that big either

McKelvin wouldn't be a bad pick - tho I'm reserving judgment on my favorite CB until after they run their drills today. Sims however is to raw to be an instant impact for us next year. He's got loads of (gulp) potential, but personally I think we've got enough players who were drafted on potential and I'd rather see someone who really was NFL ready.

No. McKelvin is overrated as a CB because of his return skills. The Saints can get a better, bigger CB in Talib. Sims looked weak and out of shape at the combine. He should have stayed at Auburn for another year. Maybe Woodyard in the fourth.

1. CB Talib 2. DT Laws 3. MLB Leman
1. MLB Lofton 2. OLB Crable 3. CB Lee
1. CB Talib 2. MLB Mayo 3. DT Moore

Talib is not a first round talent unless he runs in the 4.4's today Crable isn't worth our second but i belive Mayo is. I would rather see us go Frank Okam in the the third rather than woodyard.I dont think Mckelvin is overatted while i do belive DRC is just becuase of his last name

1) Mckelvin 2) Lofton/Mayo 3 Okam is the way to go

Sign FA Samuel, Briggs
Draft
1. Talib/DRC 2.Lofton/Mayo 3.Lowery/Okam
1. Talib/DRC 2.Lofton/Mayo 3.Terrell/Hayden
1. Talib/DRC 2.Lofton/Mayo 3.Lowery/Terrell
Front Seven
DE Smith
DT Young He will be healthly this year
DT Hollis Takes up BIG space
DE Grant
LB Briggs
LB Lofton/Mayo
LB Fujita
CB Samuel/Talib or DRC plus Young
CB MM/Talib or DRC plus Young
S Harper/KK
S Bullocks/Gleason

If we fill the LB and CB needs Young comes back healthly we will get to the QB we WANT get burned on deep balls with those CB.... BANK ON IT

That is a Championship DEFENSE :worthy:
