With the team is such a salary cap crunch, we will likely find ourselves signing several 1-year, somewhat cheap veterans this off-season. With our switch to a 3-4, Franklin may be a great rotational guy to bring back to New Orleans and solidify our interior line depth.

Would depend on if Franklin has anything left in the tank. He is a natural 3-4 NT that would provide good depth at a reasonable price.

We don't need to sign several 1 yr veterans. The objective is now to find top tier defensive talent and a great DC will get us there. If you want consistency then signing 1yr veterans is not the way to go. You find young talent to grow. Sure, when these young stars develop and we can't keep them because they become valuable, you replace them. Now if you mean talented 1 yr veterans who aren't at the brink of retirement? Then that's a way to go as well.

If we're going that route, what about Terrance Knighton from the Jags. Just saw an update on Rotoworld about him. Might re-sign with the Jags, but he's a UFA. If we're actually throwing out the idea of re-visiting Franklin, we may as well peep Knighton. He's way younger and is better suited for a 3-4.

He was there this past season on a 1-yr deal but got I.R.'d with a knee injury during the year. He's a free agent.

Yes. No one ran at him successfully very many times. He may not have been much of a pass rusher, but he shut down the running lanes he was responsible for. Bring him back!

he can't occupy two defenders , I would like a young one that can not only keep two busy, but 3.

There is only one man on this planet capable of such a feat:
