Other than the penalty I thought he had a good game. He had a pick and a bunch of pass breakups. The defense was giving up 14.5 points per game going into this one. They gave up 12 today. So that would make it….13.9 points per game now.

Then fans will say “all prevent does is prevent you for winning”No he didn't. Mooney basically just ran right by him despite getting hands on him. The playcall was criminal. You don't leave any DB with his back to the QB in that situation. Play soft coverage, make a tackle in bounds, game is over. There's no argument for anything otherwise.
Did he fail on that play? Yes. Should that play ever be called in that situation? No. Never. Ever.

He gets paid to cover even when the task appears too big. I guarantee he will be asking for 15 million per year for his not contract. He is expected to cover and play to a standard and it just wasn't there. Adebo is a handsy as corner and it will keep him in trouble. Keep your hands to yourself and cover he will be fine. Why do our players have to overcome both the opponent and their head coach? Why is it acceptable for their leader to put them in a position to fail? When we know that Adebo struggles versus smaller and quicker receivers, why would we play press man when there is 30 seconds left and no timeouts? The game doesn't call for it. If you want to win the game, the situation calls for playing soft coverage and making a tackle in bounds.
Expecting Adebo to succeed there just isn't fair.
They most assuredly do not need to ‘rise up’. lolI understand your frustration with Coach Allen but at some point the players must rise up and make a play...
That secondary is elite for sure. They are the reason our defense as a whole is very good. D line is usually so poor it makes it even harder on them, as you stated as well. Our defense asks a lot of our DBs. Even before a play happens, there's evidence of that. We play with only 2 LBs. So, our DBs have to come up and make a lot of plays.
Today, we asked way too much of our DB's. Our D Line got little to no pressure on Cousins. Do you realize how taxing that is on DBs? Add to that, the leader in the defensive backfield goes out with an injury in the 2nd half. Even more harm came from 2 of our starting LBs were injured. With Demario out and Gay's injury on the 1st series, that left Werner and Demarco Jackson. Jackson was not playing very smart. I'm not sure why DA didn't give Orji some snaps.
If you replay the game, you will see a defensive backfield that was run ragged and played an outstanding game...including Adebo. His coverage was tight the whole game, other than this play, and I'm not sure why he doesn't get safety help when your other outside CB is Lattimore and there was 100% chance of a passing play. Since we play with 2 LBs, there is no reason for Adebo to remain alone in coverage on man press with 5 DBs.
Go easy on him. He had a very good game and is hardly the reason we lost this game. This was a total team loss.
Why was the kickoff sent into the end zone ? Make them return it and run time off.
Why was coverage not soft over the top with zero time outs and 2nd and 10?
Line was atrocious today. That secondary is elite for sure. They are the reason our defense as a whole is very good. D line is usually so poor it makes it even harder on them, as you stated as well.
Agreed. Kiss of death reading the thread earlier in the week talking about how they’d feast on that backup o line for Atlanta. Seen that movie too many times.Line was atrocious today.
DA just can't call late game defense. Especially when it's a one score game. It's frustrating even in two score games because you expect him to give them both up if there is 3 minutes left. Holding teams to Field Goals is great unless the other team only needs a Field Goal to win, like these last two weeks. There's 30 seconds left. No timeouts. Let's say Cousins gets a 20 yard chunk completion in bounds, he's spiking it at the 50 with 10 seconds left, and their odds to win are extremely slim. The guy just doesn't know how to call late game defense. People on this board act like there isn't years of proof. People act like our defensive call for the Minnesota miracle wasn't criminally bad, too.
