Agent Joel Segal on ESPNradio (1 Viewer)

Recap please?

- been prepping for free agency since lockout, so theres been more time to get ready then ever before
- since lockout there hasn't been talk with any teams
- free agency will be fast and furious. deals are gonna get done at a rapid pace
- good feel for what Santonio Holmes' market value is. Jets will want him back but they want to see who else will be interested
- Reggie Bush is a playmaker when on the field. has to be accounted for at all times. clients on other side of the ball tell him that when they scheme, they scheme for Reggie Bush. but he is under contract with the Saints so they are still waiting to talk to them
- Randy Moss is motivated. chip on his shoulder. he'll be a difference maker. of course he wants to be on a winning team
- NT Anthony Adams from Bears is more valuable than people think
- Is telling his clients that they can't wait around and hope for a better deal. if they get a good deal early then they need to jump on it

It's amazing that teams still prepare for Bush even though he has underperformed by everyone's standards. I don't think he will be back, unfortunately. It will be interesting to see where he lands and how he performs on a new team. If he tears things up somewhere else we'll all wonder what the kept him from being productive (other than injuries) with the Saints.

Simply put, "He's a threat"...when the guy is on the field he makes amazing plays and the only knock is he is technically more of a utililty back in the sense that he cant carry the rushing load like a traditional back.

Sean Payton drafted him he is a unique player and the offensive philosphy which is about matchups and using the entire field is talor made for a player with Bush's unique skill set, he's in the right place in New Orleans.

It could be that he's underperformed because teams scheme specifically for Bush.

Took the words out of my mouth. People like Bobby Hebert like to scoff at the notion that Bush is a decoy. By evidence of players on other teams, however, he's apparently a pretty effective one!

Let's be fair here. It is Joel Segal's job to pump up Bush's value as much as possible. Of course he is going to say that other players told him they scheme for Bush, because it helps to increase Bush's value when he either renegotiates with the Satins or gets released. I wouldn't take anything that Bush's agent says about his value as the complete truth.

Point noted. Would not surprise me at all, though, if it were true.

True but he should be able to out perform the other team's scheme.

I hope that he returns and that our line improves. Adding a good run blocking tackle like Doyg Free could do wonders for all of our RBs. Bush would especially benefit as he has the speed and agility to get to the edge quickly and maneuver in space.

Right now what he needs more than money is success. Part of that is being on a winning team but the other part is production.

I wonder what his sponsors think of him changing teams. That could also be part of the equation.

Who is Reggie's agent again?
