AJ Smith confused as well.... (1 Viewer)

This is from T-P writer, Mike Triplett's chat today about the London game:

MIKE TRIPLETT: The way I understand it, Ross, the league offered the Saints the opportunity, and the team enthusiastically accepted. … It doesn’t help from a competitive standpoint, but team executives and local business leaders are very excited about the opportunity to market both the team and the city throughout the months and weeks leading up to the game.

It really should be good for the city. … Hopefully it won’t come at the expense of the team. That will be a very, very important week for the Saints’ psyche. If they win, that’s a big win against a tough opponent. If they lose, they’ll have a long flight home and a long two weeks with the bye to sulk over how unfair it was.

Does the nfl not remember when we played every single game on the road just three years ago?? just because we had our home uniforms on doesnt mean it was a home game. I think we should be getting atleast one or two more each year until we are back even. The stupid schedule makers give the 16-0 pats the softest schedule, like they need it.

I wouldn't blame that on the league... they play in the same division with the Dolphins, Jets, and Bills... the only thing that would have prevented them from having the weakest SOS is to put them in another division.

I'll be the 1st to say it. This is just plain wrong. You can play games outside of the country during the Pre-season, but you shouldn't be playing them in the regular season. It is not fair to the team that loses the home field advantage.

thought we get 3 monday niters (1 in preseason) 1 thursday and the global London game (assuming its nationally televised in US)

i remember when we couldnt even get a noon game on tv

ANY WAY THAT YOU TRY TO SLANT IT THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON HERE. sorry 4 caps! if a j smith knows and even says that they would give up a home game for us and we still lose a home game, there is something wrong. yes i am a conspiracy theorist and this seems to be one way that we are getting royally screwed by the nfl. the international exposure odes not make up for the lost revenue of the city.

A free trip to London, toast of the town, a world-wide audience and an NFL paycheck? What's not to like?

Come on dude!!! Think about it. The Patriots play in a weak division. A big reason for a weak schedule is that the Patriots won every divisional game last year. That means the rest of the division had an 0 - 6 records against the Patriots.

Plus, each team's opponent is predetermined and even the home and road games are predetermined. No one decides who plays who. The only decision made is when the games are scheduled.

The Saints do play well on the road.
