Tweet/s AK tweet....Uh oh he’s gonna wanna break the bank. (Said in jest) (1 Viewer)

You can’t really blame any running back for this mentality. They have, on average, about half the Productive years of other positions due to body wear and tear. You can’t blame them for coming out of college early ( because every year getting beaten up there is likely one less they make money) or for wanting to get in the most favorable contracts as early as possible.

now do we invest like he wants in that particular position, that is another very big question with no easy answer as of now. Historically for Payton it’s no. But Kamara is a unique talent when 100.
Can't blame them for wanting to maximize their money before they incur career changing/ending injury. His BFF Ingram showed him we are not willing to pay RB's. The fact that he needs another RB to run between the tackles to be at his best is another reason not to make it rain for him. If he thinks long term, it would seem the best situation for him is here during a contract year when he literally run up his numbers in this offense and then seek a bigger contract somewhere else. He (and we) just need Murray to have a lot more carries.

What am I missing here? Get healthy and make memories = holding out for money??

You read it the same way I did initially. I couldn't figure out how wanting to get healthy and make memories was getting twisted into what people were saying. Then I finally read it and noticed that he said wealthy, not healthy.

Either way, I'm not worried about it. If he wants more than we are willing or able to pay him, we'll look elsewhere for another RB. I hope we can work a deal to keep him, but it's got to be reasonable for both sides.

Kamara is great, if we can find a way to get back to using him as a WR and a RB then he might be worth the money he's probably going to want. If not well, it was fun buddy.

Wouldn’t mind a 2nd either. It’s probably what teams would force us to settle for anyway if we wanted to trade him since they know we don’t have 1

That is kind of what I'm thinking, if we could get a high enough 2nd to draft CEH I would be very, very happy....

Narrative, baby. Once this place has a narrative, they don't let it go.

I stated in the title that my comment was in jest. And there is no narrative. He typed wealthy af, I thought it was funny.
And he will demand a very large contract, I’m in the camp of don’t overpay for a RB. Sean has proven to be able to find great value even with UDFA at RB.

First I absolutely do not have any problems with AK trying to get everything he can and this year he has some leverage if he decides to sit out. The shelf life of a RB is not long and for most their production drops significantly when they hit that 'too many carries' mark or when the minor injuries start to pile up. I am very conflicted however as I just do not see investing a ton of guaranteed money on a clearly great weapon when we may only get a year or two of solid production - and that is hoping last year was a one off with his injuries at this state of his career. In the next year or two we will have some huge payouts for some other all pro guys (Lattimore, maybe Davenport and Ram), all who should be long term high end players in the league. At this point, as hard as it is to decide, I really believe Coach Payton should explore what we can get from him and use those picks/players to improve in other areas, while saving valuable cap dollars for those players we can probably count on for another 5 or more years.

Ahhh, not ever intended as a slight on your OP, rather some of the replies that went straight to the 'time to trade Kamara' theme that's been made popular on here. As you say, your post was clear as a bell, but people still tend to read what they *want* to read.

We struggled last year with offensive weapons. Now why would we give away arguably our 2nd best offensive player

I hope they can somehow manage the salary cap to have AK stay. If not this will be a huge hit on the team

Ahh ten four.
I definitely would rather keep him as I think he’s a great player, but I hope if we do that he’s utilized more appropriately going forward. And obviously healthy. I wish that for him regardless whether he’s a Saint or not.
