Alec Baldwin Accidentally Kills Cinematographer on Set of New Movie (3 Viewers)

AND doubled down on being an idiot.
So much so that you wonder whether something else is going on. I have a feeling the prosecution was trying to get a conviction at all costs because it would be a feather in their cap to be the ones to put Baldwin in jail. The attorney who left the prosecution team has some serious chops. Her interview with Cuomo really opened my eyes to the nonsense the prosecution was throwing out there.

Instead of a feather in their cap, they got egg on their face. Their reputation is gonna be in the toilet for a while, and justifiably.

The depth of her integrity to walk out of the courtroom right then and there was impressive.

For Kari Morrissey, maybe forever ... and should be.

Yeah, certainly when it comes to activities that can kill people if not done right, commitment to safety requires actual commitment, and redundancies to ensure there are no accidents. When accidents do happen and people die, it's almost always because there was some failure in that commitment to safety and redundancy process.
And lets also remember Chuck that this was a significantly low-budget film that wasnt working with $150 million dollar budget to hire decent, professional, expert prop masters, armorer techs, sufficient quality control experts who have very high, rigorous standards regarding safety, ensuring the right variety of tools are being used properly on-set.

All throughout this tragic ordeal, its comes to light that the entire "Rust" production was a terribly mismanaged, slip-shod operation behind-the-scenes. I still believe lower-budget productions lead to greater chances or possibilities where serious or deadly on-set accidents, or stunts can occur.

A terrible tragedy of this nature was already a distinct possibility considering the very lax, unprofessional lack of safety precautions, lack of adherence to checking to make sure what's actually an easy thing on 95% other Hollywood movies/T.V. series productions, and keeping live guns and live rounds far away from the set.

No doubt. She's awesome for that.

Indeed.
It's actually quite a bit easier to discern this New Mexico prosecutor's motives, prosecutors like him usually convict hardened criminals 99.9% will never know about, understand or fully comprehend or care about. Prosecuting an A-list famous, legendary actor like Alex Baldwin for murder or negligence would seriously enhance his career and possibly super-charge in 4-5 years his potential political aspirations what would normally take 25-30 years to accomplish, if ever.

The only problem was that his terrible case management where he and his team knowingly (and cynically) didnt hand over key crime-scene information that might've altered the case's trajectory and made a guilty verdict less likely.

It's very understandable and relatable to read prosecutor's motives in trying to make a name for himself and using dubious, unethical or questionable at best means to achieve it. Many of us have been or could be put in similar-type situations in whatever particular line of work we do at some point in our lives.

A prosecutor has asked a New Mexico judge to reconsider the decision to dismiss an involuntary manslaughter charge against Alec Baldwin in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of a Western movie, according to a court filing made public on Wednesday.

The case against Baldwin was dismissed in dramatic fashion in July when, halfway through the trial, a judge found the prosecution and law enforcement had intentionally withheld evidence in the case that could have been favorable to the actor.

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the charge against Baldwin with prejudice, meaning it can’t be revived once appeals of the decision are exhausted.

Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey has said there were insufficient facts to support the ruling in state district court and no violation of Baldwin’s due process rights.…..

Omg, prosecutor needs to get a life and move on to another case.

The judge also specifically said double jeopardy attached. I used to like Kary Morrissey. Now I think she's completely bonkers.

On the other hand, I know this irks Hilaria. So it's got that going for it.

You kiddin' me. That prosecutor sees Baldwin as a stepping stone for his career. He'll keep fighting as long as there is a benefit to him.

I mean, yeah, but that case is dead and gone. And fwiw, they obvioisly forked up their own case. Which is why it's over and done.

Prosecution is just blowing smoke at this point.

Judge doubles down on decision to dismiss involuntary manslaughter charge against Alec Baldwin

In a ruling Thursday, state District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer stood by her July decision to dismiss an involuntary manslaughter charge against Baldwin. She said prosecutors did not raise any factual or legal arguments that would justify reversing her decision.
“Because the state’s amended motion raises arguments previously made, and arguments that the state elected not to raise earlier, the court does not find the amended motion well taken,” the judge wrote, adding that the request was also untimely.
