Don’t think anyone lost respect he just won’t be here the first 3 games. If you’re talking about fantasy then he will be part of a 2 headed monster and his value drops. Especially since Williams is the workhorse in the red zone.

AK's value and effectiveness went WAY down last year due to a few factors that we've hopefully addressed this offseason. No vertical pass game, patchwork OL, no other dependable RB on the roster to spell him or give a change of pace. AK was forced to be a bell cow (on the field too much), and a dirty yards runner (wear and tear and terrible for stat-lines... and totally not his game). I saw a stat last year showing how many loaded boxes AK had to run into, it was a LOT.

We needed a younger/healthier Ingram or Murray taking some of those dirty yards and a passing game that pulled LBs and Safeties off the LOS. We should have both of those taken care of. Improved OL will depend on some luck on the injury front and how well some of our young OL perform. (Penning, Ruiz, etc..)

AK seems to have turned his off the field episode into something positive and has committed to making himself a better football player and person.

Nick Underhill had a great analysis on his site on how Kamara changed his strength and conditioning coach and has been correcting some of the factors that hindered him last year. Says that the numbers show that he is demonstrably faster and more explosive this year from last.

So was AK focusing more on bulking up for a heavier workload last year? I'm just curious because the workout videos I've always seen seem to be focused on balance and reaction time. Just wondering what needed to be corrected because the dude is physically awesome. The factors that hinder him are things like not having a QB who is a threat to throw deep, beat up O lines, and no other legit RBs to help carry the load and allow him to be used in the passing game.

Now with weapons all over the place and better QB play I'm expecting AK to be more impactful. His overall numbers could dip due to the ball being spread around and TDs being vultured by Taysom and Jamaal Williams, but on a per touch basis I think he's going to be much more effective. So basically he's not going to help your fantasy team win but he's going to help the real life team win. I'm hoping he can help the Saints put together long sustained drives that result in TDs instead of missed field goals.

It was actually much more than just bulking up or not. The article stated that AK's new trainer discovered a significant imbalance in his legs, where one had more muscle mass than the other. In addition, his breathing was inefficient which caused him to become fatigued too quickly and not recover quickly enought. His new trainer has been working through these issues, which has resulted in him being measurably faster this year compared to last.

Again, it was a great article. I have never regretted subscribing to neworleans.football.

I don't know where you are getting it from. I haven't seen anything on SR or in the media but positive comments for AK. Choose your words more carefully.

Remember this as well. Kamara said during his first interview after meeting with the Clown that his off field trouble did impact his preparation and games last year. Now a weight is lifted off of his shoulders. I expect numbers from him like his rookie season with a few more TDs.

A return to full form based on: 1) Kamara's work with a new personal trainer to regain his burst, 2) the weight of the Vegas thing has been lifted, and 3) the competitive juices are flowing again with Kendre Miller needing to be shown how it's done in the NFL.
