Alvin Kamara signs 2 year extension (2 Viewers)

I don't think you can say that right now, at least with a straight face....our depth is non existent, a train wreck....teams lose key players on oline all the time but don't struggle to the extent we have.....
Teams lose 1 key player on the OL and the drop off is not too bad , but we lost our BEST OL and our 2nd most experienced OL. Then the 2nd string backups started dropping. Our OL has a rookie at the most important position. A player that finally got a good OL coach and is improving every game, but yet when everyone was healthy were playing at an elite level

Just how is it kicking the can?? Explain, or are you just spouting a cliche
Until we see the actual details of the new deal (OTC hasn't yet reported it on their sight) we don't know if it is "kicking the can". I suspect there was a bit of that by moving some of this years salary into a signing bonus to get a bit more operating space this year, but the major part is splitting next years new cash into 2 years and guaranteeing next years salary with 2026 either with no guarantee or partially.

Saldiveri and Young look like misses, but I think a big part of the lack of depth on the OL is the lack of mid to late round picks that have been used on the OL. They seem to count on rookie UDFA to provide OL depth which seems like a bad approach to me.
I'm not ready to give up on Saldiveri yet , I mean it's just his 2nd yr and he's been hurt a lot. Young is a 6th rd pick those are shots in the dark

If this signing is about making fans happy then it’s a great signing. If you’re running a business and that business is to win football games then it’s terrible. Can’t start thinking about winning until we reset and start over. Clear the books and get some high draft picks. Yes it will take a couple of years. But this track we’re on is leading nowhere.
Ridiculous, It's a 2yr deal for probably our best offensive weapon. Rebuilds are not even close to a guarantees , ask Carolina, Chicago, the Jets and a host of other teams that have sucked for the last 10 yrs SMH

That's why I said looks like and misses. They could still develop but it doesn't really look like it at this point and I purposely said misses instead of busts because I don't really think anyone is a bust if they are picked int rounds 4 or 5 to 7. But if they don't end up being a starter or at least a good backup, they are a miss IMO.

he is still ok, and a great team player. But pull out his 2017 highlights and tell me he hasnt lost a thing
Armstead , Peat, Unger,Warford and Ram. Fuaga ( rookie) Patrick, would be a backup on most other teams. McCoy ( great but hurt) , Ruiz just serviceable but hurt , Penning getting better each game but still developing. THAT's why AK is not as productive as 2017

A team is 53 people. Plus practice squad. So it includes depth in its nature. Essentially, 22 of our 53 people were quite good, barely a pass and a fail if you count the practice squad who have not stepped up at all.

If we fell apart vs the Eagles because of 1 injury(McCoy) we were not decent.

My point is that those 2 contracts represent 4-6 free agents that would have provided depth. I hope we don't end up 2 years from now looking at Kamara's money like we do Rams going, 'well that sucked.'
SMH , we didn't fall apart because McCoy got hurt we had a decent lead with a min to go . And I wish you could read the Mike Detillier article that said when a team loses it's C in game they lose 70% of the time

Went from scoring 45 a game down to 12. That is why we lost. Lost 75% of our production.

Great move.. Saints need more players like him. Saints need to have him as one of the building blocks for the future under different coaches and better environment.
If Kamara wants to finish his career with this organization, do we need different coaches ??????

Who do we need, call it now. If their's is not a better solution out there, why change. I don't want to give another coach 2-3 years to get the players he wants, just to miss the playoffs for another 3 years

I think you do have to give a coach more than a year to evaluate.
The difference with DA is that after year one, nothing changed from his Raiders stint.
