Am I wrong to feel sorry for Josh Gordon? (1 Viewer)

I certainly didn’t want to see him fail. Like I posted in the other thread, he obviously has an addiction. I imagine that he likely has many more support options than a “normal” person, yet still finds a way to do this time and again.

I'm going to give what may be an unpopular answer. While it is a disease (there is no doubting that) it is a disease where the resources are available for almost anyone to recover. The thing is those resources are taken advantage of only when people are ready. In that way, there is choice involved. People actually choose not to get well. Obviously, the choice to not take advantage is usually happening when your thinking is not clear so ..its just not as simple as "they can't help it" or "they can help it"

What sucks is, people are usually not "ready" until it is too late literally or they have pulled everything down on top of them.

You cant give a druggy money and think he will quit. Just fueling the fire. While I hope he can beat this he has been given plenty of chances. Some people just cant be helped if they dont want to be.

MLB is going to stop testing for weed.

The NFL should do the same. They shouldn't wait until the next CBA either. NFL players are more likely to get addicted to opiates because of this policy. If the players could work marijuana into their pain management program, they wouldn't have to take as many or as powerful a pain killer.

At some point the NFL is going to risk a class action lawsuit from former players because their rules end up pushing players towards highly addictive pain meds.

Josh has more serious problems than weed.

Everyone associates him with weed. I wonder about that.

Xanax and alcohol are just some of the others.

I just don't want to read an obit about him.

You're right, i always just assume it's just weed with Gordon.

If he's doing Xanny's all the time he needs help. Especially mixing it with alcohol.

the new CBA is so close there is no way the NFL doesn't wait so it can be a major bargaining chip

JG has been struggling with it since he was a kid, before he even played college ball. It’s deep seeded. He’s a good person, just has a real serious issue.
