I have seen this idea posted twice now. “One potential candidate for Philadelphia, quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier, is expected to follow Moore to New Orleans to become the Saints offensive coordinator.”.

So what if, Doug Nussmeier becomes OC, the Saints keep Carr one more year then release him in 2026 and the Saints manage to draft Garrett Nussmeier in 2026.

what an interesting concept that nobody has thought about. how did you manage to connect those dots???

Somebody is going to point out Nussmeier’s NFL career stats (56% completions, 1 TD / 4 INT, passer rating below throwing the ball directly into the ground every play) and I’m going to remind that person in advance that the best players rarely make the best coaches.

I don’t think it’s a lock for success, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it. I also wouldn’t be upset if it didn’t happen because Nuss The Elder got a promotion or any other reason. That wouldn’t mean that nobody wants to coach here, as people love to say.

It's strange to think Nuss' dad would want to someone else besides him? Would be a dream scenario if those stars aligned. First thing's first, though. He needs to fulfill expectations at LSU in '25 for him to remain a first-round pick. Both and and Arch in Texas need to actually fulfill all the expectations. In Nuss' case, he'd easily be the top dropback QB available next year.

I think Philly offers him the OC job.
That would seem like the best scenerio, he has some talented players to coach, good chance to get back to Super Bowl and good chance for head coaching job in the future.

However, something to consider, his boy is playing his final college season right down the road. (great chance to see him during the week or maybe catch a game)

Coaching offense for his former team might play a factor.

He might be real good buddies with Moore and want to help him succeed.

He might welcome the challenge of taking on a hard job as offensive coordinator for the Saints

He also may not like Philadelphia (weather, he social environment)
