Comp pick wasn’t eligible for Peat even before the compensatory pick period ended since Saints revised Peat’s contract last year as a paycut and had him become a FA ahead of schedule

I dont know about "saving the season" but Peat certainly saved Carr from ending up on IR (or worse ).

Saving the offense after the LT switch would be more accurate. Protection was significantly better once Peat came in at LT. Offense thrived more afterwards. Peat will be missed at that spot until Penning comes along and show improvement.
