Andrus Peat signs with the Raiders (Merged) (3 Viewers)

Penning is our option. Deal with it.

Or, maybe Andrus Peat never wanted to come back to the Saints, regardless of what our coaches thought. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I mean, to go play with another team who isn't going to the playoffs next year tells me all I need to know about him. Buh bye!

Maybe, but given the pay cut he took last year and the fact the the NOF crew all said he loves New Orleans tells me that we could have had him back if we wanted him back. Depending on salary offered of course.

Makes sense

They signed a bunch of O-lineman after the draft, none of them named Peat
Peat isn't a zone run blocking type of OL, and would have been the slowest guy with regards to 10yd split on the roster had he been resigned.
There's a report that the Saints had a deal in place to trade back w/ the Rams as they wanted Bowers. That confirms 2 things
A. The Saints were content to pass on Bowers and Fuaga
B. The Saints aren't valuing OL as much as the previous regime, and Bowers despite the love here, was probably still seen as an undersized TE that wasn't the "can't miss" prospect that everyone wanted him to be.

Looking back at the draft 19 would have still put them in front of Pittsburg where potentially they could have gotten maybe a 3rd rounder and still wound up with an OL (Troy Fatuanu). Who knows... potentially could have ended up with Payton Wilson with the extra 3rd.

Oh well, So long Peat...He'll go down as one of the better 1st round draft picks from that 2015 class. You go back and look at it and not many of those guys drafted after the Saints pick are still major contributors in the league, so regardless of how people feel like he was a miss...a 9 year career and counting suggest he was a major hit.

Cheers, hopefully he gets to play LT and potentially extend his career

If Derek Carr is getting sacked alot next season, that means he can't make quick decisions and still can't make reads. I have faith in Kubiak that the ball is coming out quick next season. It gives me hope. As does no more 9-year Andrus Peat or 10-year James Hurst. They'll add another top lineman in the draft next year and maybe we'll be set for years starting in 2025.

I know I’m in the minority, but I was always a huge fan.
Who knows how good of a left tackle he could have been if Armstead wasn’t so amazing.

I never understood the hate he got on this forum.
"Huge fan" is interesting. Are you a Stanford grad? =)

I don't think anyone hated Peat. They just hated his lack of availability. Couldn't count on him. That'll be his Saints legacy.

Or he went to Corona Del Sol like Andrus Peat did, lol

Funny, that's where I saw Peat play and when we drafted him I thought "Hey, I've seen that guy play basketball"

Yes, Peat played basketball at Corona, he sure did fill out that uniform!
