For some reason Sean’s method of preparation has not been real successful to open the season the last few years. They spend all offseason and training camp passing the football which doesn’t allow for a prepared defensive front 7, unable to get pressure on opposing QBs. Especially after watching Fitzpatrick pick us apart last year and the D struggling for first 5 or 6 games, I am having nightmares of Watson, Goff, Wilson and Dak torching us resulting in an 0-4 start.

YES. The Saints have not won an opener since 2013, when they started 5 -0. I am extremely worried about the opener especially. I am not worried about going 0-4... that won't happen.

I do think that the Saints have consciously gone into the last few seasons with the idea of letting the defense gel on the field instead of coming out the gates on fire. It's not that you plan to lose; but you do treat the season as a 16 game marathon instead of 16 separate sprints.

But there is no way on God's Green Earth (as my Mom would say) that Payton is going to Los Angeles in Week 2 with anything other than a full on beatdown in mind.

How will the Saints do Monday? No idea. I could actually see them losing.

But if I were a betting man, I'd bet more than is prudent on the Saints stomping the Rams the week after.

When Fitzmagic is "on", its an unstoppable force.

As for our D, I am hoping continuity in our DBs and LBs will provide a better start this year. Davis was new last year, Anzalone was a rookie for all practical purposes, and our DBs had a lot of new pieces and youth. I'll be interested to see how our interior run stopping is with the new players on the D line.

i want a beatdown of the rams like 2016. 49-21. brees 28/36, 310 yards, 4 touchdowns. ingram 14 for 146 and at touchdown. 555 total yards, allowed 247.

I just hope our guys don’t think about the Rams until the end of the fourth quarter against the Texans. Let’s take care of Houston first.

Just like Ozzy said above, I'm worried before every game. And yes, we've had slow starts for many years now (okay, last year it was just a bad first game), so there's some justification in being a little nervous. However, the defense last year straight up said they thought they could just show up and beat TB. I don't think they'll make the overconfidence mistake again. But that said, HOU is a better team than TB was last year. Still, we won't have Jason David & Brandon Browner's love child, whoops I mean Ken Crawley, either standing and waving as WRs sprint past him or tackling them 5 seconds before the ball arrives.

A 2-week West Coast road trip is rough, but the team is doing the right thing by staying on the West Coast instead of flying back and forth. I'm not looking forward to the Rams game b/c I don't want to see a million replays of the worst no-call ever nor do I want to hear announcers talk about it.

So I get what you're saying, but it's ultimately pointless and counter-productive to worry about this stuff ahead of time. If we actually go 0-4, then we can get all doom-and-gloom.

I’m nervous about getting my smoked sausage shipped up here before next Monday to be able to make jambalaya. The Saints don’t have a chance if it doesn’t make it!
