Anybody know anything about this new GE washer dryer combo?

Any appliance with an internet connection is a no go for me. Some pointless BS that will eventually be used to sell more crap to me or force a subscription of some sort for updates. I’m sure they’ll find someway to monetize the data they’re collecting.

Welp, my dryer is pretty much on its last legs and the washer isn't far behind. We're in the market for a washer/dryer combo and currently have the typical top loading washer and front loading dryer.

We're open to either of the loading options for a washer but willing to spend a little extra for a better model. I have no idea what's what currently, but probably looking at Best Buy or Home Depot/Lowe's unless there's a better option out there. Open to getting lightly used ones too.

After a quick glance on Best Buy, I think $1k -$1,500 is our price range.
Since it’s just me in the house I’d like to get a stackable unit and save some space. However, the brain trust that set up the utility room has the washer on one wall and the dryer on the other wall. Probably easier to run 220 volt (unless there’s a stackable that runs on 110) to the washer side but I have to navigate around at least one door. Not enough room under the floor to go that route. Stupid utility room…

Our LG has that. I've never used it.

Yeah, I'm leaning LG myself after looking a bit yesterday. But more likely the basic no-frills one. I don't need all of the other wi-fi crap on it, mostly because I'm already at the unit to put the clothes in. Maybe would be nice to tinker with it from my phone app like I do with a few other things, but I don't really need it.

Yeah, feel the same way. I wouldn't say absolutely no go, but I don't think I need it.

And it seems like it's the add-ons that end up breaking the unit and not the basic parts.

Sort of like how ice makers are always the first thing to die in refrigerators.

I have an ~eight year old LG front load washer and matching dryer. They've been great. Inside, they're very basic. A computer that is connected to a motor that is direct drive to the drum and a pump to expel the water.

I have two sets of LG front load.

One set is regular side by side that I have had for like 10 years but the second is a single unit, stacked, full sized w/d combo. Love it. At the time (5 years ago) it was the only full sized stacked I could find. It is the same machines as the side by side just one is taller (top door is like 5' high

If you have the headspace above your w/d to do the stacked full sized, it gives you back half the space you are using now and basically allows for a dirty clothes storage and work area.

But I will absolutely recommend the LG. They are good machines and the dryer actually dries.
