Anyone else puke watching Trufant run that pick back for a TD? (1 Viewer)

Who knows where the Saints are today if they took Trufant that year. Maybe better, maybe worse. Probably without McKenzie.

If people still feel bad about it then they should remember that same year the Saints took Jon Stinchcomb two spots over Rashean Mathis in the second round.

Make everyone feel even worse....1996 draft.....picking Alex Molden when Eddie George was still on the board.....wait, Marvin Harrison was still on the board, Eric Moulds, Ray Lewis, Walt Harris.

Second round - Taking Je'rod Cherry when Muhsin Muhammad, Tory James, Fred Thomas :) was still on the board.

Wow...Jon Runyon was picked in the 4th round of that draft.

5th round, Joe Horn is selected one spot ahead of us at Pick#135, who do we get at 136...Mercury Hayes. Zach Thomas was picked later in that round.

In case you weren't feeling good yet, how about the 1997 draft....we pick Chris Naeole

Picked after....Warrick Dunn, Tony Gonzalez

second round, we pick Rob Kelly, just after our pick...LB Jamie Sharper, Corey Dillon, Sam Madison

Jason Taylor was picked several picks after we got Troy davis in the 3rdround.

I remember the draft well, when the saints trade arizona i thought they did that to pick CB Turfant and i was very happy but when they said DT i was shocked and could not believe that.. after feeling bad... i said maybe our coaching staff know something that we do not know about sullivan. This was a pure mistake and the saint should look into getting a real experts to help them with the draft process. The draft is very very important and could lead to winning and lossing.
Please hire real experts that can evaluate player talent.

Haslett departs.
Payton takes over.
The scouting department remains.
Our draft looks miserable under both regime, it seems.

Sooner or later, heads need to roll.

Well we really don't know how these two drafts under Payton are going to turn out. The first one looks great so far, the other one not so much.

But if Bushrod and Alleman turn out to be valuable O-lineman, Young steps in at nickle back (or maybe starts), and Meachem gets over the injuries and becomes a nice compliment to Colston...that's a pretty good draft.

We just haven't seen enough of these guys to be able to tell if they will or will not be able to make it.
