I have a friend who became a prepper/survivalist after Katrina... He has stockpiled Coelman fuel, dry goods in food quality 5 gallon buckets, ammo.. water filtration equipment and many other things... He put my wife and I in his survival group because we both work in medicine and I hunt and fish....So if something does happen, I've got that going for me....

I have a cousin with an underground bunker full of ammo, spam, etc. but he said he'd shoot me if I tried to get in. Guess I'm screwed.

Has anyone ever met a prepper that isn't a conspiracy nut? There are many preppers working offshore most of whom live way out in the country and lie at the Michelle Bachmann end of the political spectrum.

$80k+ for an underground bunker with flame-thrower booby-trapped stairwells? That's called being a nut-job.

Having a generator and stocking up on canned food and bottled water, when you live along the Gulf Coast? That's just being prepared for hurricane season.

occasionally absolutely. Big rounds too - 12 ounces sometimes 16

on a serious note. If there is something coming that we need all that for, is that life going to be really worth living. Serious question - I worry too much about enjoying the days that I know I do have. I build my bunker and the cement truck would probably run over me on the way out.

Preppers are not fools. Yeah they make all these TV shows making fun of them, but you see people preparing for a full scale economical collapse, they know it's coming. Am I prepper? Yes and have been preparing since last fall when my eyes totally opened up to the things around me. I'm not preparing for a biblical apocalypse or zombie out break, but I will be prepared when the economy collapses like a thief in the night.

They also make better fuses for Molotov Cocktails than rags because they absorb more of the accelerant.
