Do you know what the hot new colors or styles of the season will be?

Do you know what goes together and what doesn't?

Do you know about the new hip, trendy new designers who are getting ready to go big?

Do you know who the hip trendy designers are now?

I am not. I know nothing about it. I don't look like a clown or anything but my wardrobe won't be in the pages of GQ anytime soon

I don't know what's in, I'm not sure what's out

Are cuffs on pants legs in, are they out? What about pleats? I don't know

My girlfriend is on top of stuff like that. Every year a big bag of clothes go to goodwill to make space for the new

I honestly could care less. I tend to buy new clothes when the old clothes are:

A. Damaged
B. Worn out (my threshold for 'worn out' is pretty high)
C. Don't fit (still hang on too long cuz hey, a couple weeks on the treadmill and they'll fit just fine again)

I've known some people who were very into it, but it's never been something I was interested in

by default- i have two teenage girls.

Just got the summer Free People catalogue since my youngest bought some shorts there. YIKES. This is why she NEVER takes me shopping...i wouldnt drop $80 on a pair of shorts.

I tend to stick to what i know. Which is slim fit and time-tested - i do have an unhealthy penchant for shoes- dress/casual and sneakers. But i wont drop $400 on a pair ( Lookin at you Golden Goose ) just yet.

If you invest in well-made, properly fitting, core pieces (in neutral colors), you can wear them for ages.

They'll never go out of style.

I don't change with the seasons. I just stick with what looks best on me.

I have a peacoat from 2005 that I get compliments on every single time I wear it. I legit try to buy stuff that I can wear for at least a decade.

I have a leather peacoat that I call my Shaft jacket. I bought it in New York City probably 15 years ago and it's still probably my favorite thing I've ever bought

Still wear it every year and still looks great

The styles are what gets me. I was always used to wearing shorts that were hemmed just below the front pocket. ( Always played softball in coaching shorts; 1980"s era)
Now shorts are way below the knees and it drives me crazy to have them rub against my knees when I walk.

Same. I've always gone for a classic, non-trendy style; however, I think the "in" term now for that is capsule wardrobe. I think that's what goes with my personal look. It also goes with my disdain of buying clothes that I don't feel I will get my money's worth either because it doesn't last or it's not comfortable so I never reach for it. A good pair of slacks or a pencil skirt and a perfect tailored white blouse is "mindless" dressing but still looks pulled together. I do want to look good but I also want to be comfortable. Like kizzy, I have stuff I've owned for a while that I still get compliments on and I get a kick out of it every time.

By the way, I'm not above buying secondhand so I guess I have to thank women like your girlfriend.

My wardrobe = jeans + school or theatre festival tshirt (maaaybe a polo if we’re getting fancy - always a saints polo on Fridays during season)
Add a fleece in the winter

But I think I come by this honestly- so much if my professional life required 2-5 changes per day, that efficiency became my sole concern
