It actually makes no sense why they didn't go for it.
I am quite amused how terrible the Falcons are to be honest.

I can't recall many plays during the game that ATL failed to gain AT LEAST 1 yard. I was a bit baffled by this call, but (of course) ultimately pleased! It actually makes no sense why they didn't go for it.

In 1995 maybe... Not with a 2pt lead in 2022. You're giving up possession up willingly for 30 yards.. oh wait 20 yards. Because they hold and that hold saved them from a punt block.I'm all for piling on Falcon miscues, but the right play there is punt, pin them deep, and play proper defense.
The gaffe was holding on punt added to spot, then very next play allowing Jarvis behind the coverage.
I would lose my mind if Saints went for it on 4th and 1 with under a min left and opponent had 1 TO.
Sean Payton would totally have gone for itI'm all for piling on Falcon miscues, but the right play there is punt, pin them deep, and play proper defense.

If it was a 3pt lead... It's a 100% the right move.
Not a 2 pt lead. It doesn't make any sense.
Couple that with the fact their defense had stippled our offense all day so what coach would not default to their respective defenses closing out a game for them.I think the Falcons panicked because of Mariota's fumble on the prior play. Basically recency bias: Because this just happened, the possibility of a fumble seemed magnified.
The punt was caught at the ten and got moved up to the 20.And give the other team the ball with only needing about 20 yards to win instead of 50+? It was the right call to me. Even though I dont like it.
The only error there was not max protecting on the punt, allowing Taysom free up the middle and losing 10 yards because they had to hold him to prevent him from blocking it.
They was getting cooked in that 4th quarter... You guys are way too conservative. LolCouple that with the fact their defense had stippled our offense all day so what coach would not default to their respective defenses closing out a game for them.
