Fear not, my SR brethren.. i am ok.. and no, ‘Bangkok Earthquake’ is not a metaphor for somehting else.. actually it occurred in neighboring Burma/Myanmar, but was crazy here in Bkk with buildings collapsing and total chaos.. i was chilling on my couch at 1:30pm today, Friday when my new condo building starting shaking and swaying .. i had not been drinking so, being an American, i thought terrorism.. in any case, as soon as my wall clock fell to the floor and busted into a million pieces, i grabbed my passport and phone and i hightailed it down the stairs and outside .. did not even have time to put on shoes, my feet have been burning all afternoon on the sidewalk outside .. until the building manager kindly brought me a pair of boots.. they were 3 or 4 sizes too small for my feet , but at least they weren’t burning anymore.. after a few hours they let us back upstairs to grab some belongings, so now im back down hanging in the lobby.. some pics from just after it happened .

Glad you're all good man - I have seen some video that's pretty wild. Stay safe!

its so hard for me to think "this is WHAT they are designed to do" when i see videos like this.

Had not seen that.. my Airbnb when i arrived a few months ago was half a block from that place.. matter of fact i looked into getting a long term condo at the place in that vid but the rooms are teeny tiny and the traffic’s insane right there .. that’s some wild footage … my place was shaking and swaying pretty bad but not that bad i dont think .

USGS has since moved it to an 8.2 quake up from 7.7 which is exponentially stronger.

Glad to hear all good because im seeing video of locations closer to epicenter that is just crazy

Yeah im a 5 min walk from the BTS train b/c it’s my main mode of transportation .. one of the first things i thought after we learned it was an earthquake was ‘Holy S***’ , it would have been terrifying to be on the train at that moment .. I definitely would have thought terrorism if id felt that .
