Magnum is the man but who could forget

the best show about private investigators was Moonlighting, and it isn't close.

the best P.I. however, IMO, is not on the list-- and that is one Colt Seavers aka Teh Fall Guy... he was a PI who did stunt work on the side, can't top that.

also you left out another personal fave of mine, Matt Houston.

**EDIT: allow me to correct myself before someone else does- technically, Colt Seavers was a bounty hunter... i'll amend my argument to say that i think he was one of the best characters of the genre.

For such a crappy show, Charlie's Angels catapulted Farrah, Jaclyn and Cheryl into stardom.

let's not forget former NFL DE Fred Dryer in "Hunter" -

with honorable mention to accomplished Shakespearean actor Avery Brooks as "A Man Called Hawk"

Hunter was cop.

But Hawk and Spenser for Hire are two that I forgot. And Mike Hammer.

But is anyone really voting them the best?

Maybe 2 more people than the "Remington Steele" contingent.

i voted the Equalizer, cause he had to do all that bad-***ery and you just KNOW he had to work around that Jag being in the shop as much as Jags are.

Hunter bent the rules! He was a maverick detective. i think my dad wished Stepfanie (yes that is how she spelled it) Kramer would go "undercover vice" on every episode.

Spenser for Hire was not anywhere near the terror that was A Man Called Hawk. Hawk was not only Spenser's heavy, he also was the one who came up with the answer more than once... while Spenser got the credit, the girl, and the final-freeze-frame smirk/thumbs-up shot.

This is true.

If we were doing a maverick detective category, we would have to include McGarnicle.

I can not pick, too much awesomeness, system overload.

Well I'm a girl, so I loved Remington Steele. However, now that I'm grown...I think I'd prefer an all-night stakeout with Magnum. So how do I vote? The one I loved then or the one I lust now?

And what about those guys on the boat? What was that show called...I forget, but I watched it.
