They don't want officials to be the villains. They want the officials with as little attention on them as possible. Especially now that gambling interests in the league are now publicly sanctioned.

This right here and this is why the NFL don’t allow officials to do post game press conferences. Whatever shenanigans the NFL does with officiating, the zebras are to never admit guilt or wrongdoing. They are robots to the league

I don’t know but… They made a huge deal about it with him. Even Vinovich’s father chimed in and said the people of New Orleans were crazy for the threats levied against his son.

I think the NFL sort of told the officials that they wanted the Rams in the Super Bowl and not to keep them out of the game because of a penalty. The game wasn't 1005 "fixed" but the NFL had their thumbs on the scale and the Refs knew not to have a situation where the Rams lost "because" of a penalty, even if it was a 100% legit penalty. The "no call" and the hands to the face in OT should both have been called and they would have been penalties 100% of the time and 90% of the time in any other game. They would have both been called against the Saints in the same circumstances. Why Vinovich and his crew of LA Pirates have not done a Saints games since.....the stink is still too strong. I wonder if Vinovich has done a Broncos Game, I bet CSP would give him an earful.

Vinovich did CSP’s FIRST regular season game with the Broncos, which i’m sure was not a coincidence, i’m sure it was Roger sending a message to CSP.

First, Im over it at this point. But second, I wasn't mad at Vinovich anyway. It wasn't his call. Sure he's the white hat and it's " his crew", but that was not his call to make. People on here can talk til they are blue in the face, the white hat doesn't make PI calls. Period! Be mad at the 2 officials on the side because that's their call. It's like being mad at your friend, but it was actually your other friend that did you wrong. Be mad at the right person.
Now the OT blow to the head on Brees, now you have a case. But not the PI.

Didn't see anything in the article about him smiling on the plane. And we could've said something during the week about the crew.
I'm not saying the NFL didn't have it in for us. I'm just saying that wasn't Vinovichs call. But you can agree to disagree if you want. Just put the blame where it goes.

Wasn’t an article, someone on sr going back home to LA saw him sleeping and took a snap shot. You can see his smug face smiling sleeping soundly. Im sure someone on sr got the pic save.

I think is simply a matter of him fearing for his safety. It was an egregious incident with huge implications (Super Bowl berth) that he's being protected from a possible attack. It only takes one jacked fanatic.

It is 100% this and nothing else.

There is no conspiracy. It is just a case of the NFL taking reasonable precautions to protect Vinovich's safety.

All teams will be on the wrong end of a bad decision, but it almost never directly results in the affected team missing out on a Super Bowl, nor prompts (misconceived) lawsuits, or protests involving tens of thousands of people taking to the streets.

Why put him in that position when, as a league, they've got more than enough officiating crews to avoid that outcome?

Vinovich didn’t do anything wrong. Another official made the infamous call.

Threats to someones life over a game is stupid. I was mad when it happened, but would never threaten anyones life. The person making a threat like that really needs to examine their own self.
