Bounce Back Season for Cam Jordan? (2 Viewers)

Every other DE on the Saints roster is lighter than Cam and most are taller.

To put that in better context, Carl Granderson is an inch taller but he's 26 pounds lighter than Cam.

Maybe the way for Cam to regain his youth and speed/quickness would be to lose some weight and focus on the Olympic workout.

You know. The Bob Sled Team workout like Herschel Walker went on. The Saints could set up a ramp and a slide on Airline Highway and have Cam run beside a log full of his DL teammates pushing them and then jumping in before going down the slide. Wee Doggie!
Cardboard + Levee = 10 sacks, go get em Cam!

Cam was clearly hampered by his injury last year . He is getting older , so I dont expect him to go out and put up 12 or more sack like he use too . Healthy he could give us 7 to 10 sacks and still be a force against the run . Realistically he probably only plays this year maybe next . Would I love to see him have another huge year ? Of course I would but at this stage of his career we need to hope he has a solid season . Having said that it wouldn’t surprise me too much if he did have one more great season left .

If the ankle injury is completely healed, he can still be an effective player, but a 'bounce back' season at 34 years old, not very realistic...

This year I'm convinced that the old toaster in my kitchen will not burn the bread like last year. It used to make the best toast in it's prime. Yeah, a few of the heating elements are broken, but I believe in the old guy.
But what if you sent that old toaster in to the repair man in the toast off-season? Maybe he patched those elements back together with silver solder and old guitar strings 'cause he knows you don't have a competent replacement toaster, and he's a solid dude like that. Maybe you've got a little toast in your (immediate) future after all...

great point

Cam's at the end. He'll be an incredible leader in the locker room but he's 34 going on 35 and has an incredible amount of wear on his body that's really starting to show. Anything more than 4 sacks to me would be an accomplishment at this point in his career.
While Cam’s best seasons are behind him, he can still be an asset on the field. If Chase Young is a reliable threat on the other side it wouldn’t shock me to see Cam scrape together a 7-10 sack season.

He's done. Play him on obvious run downs, and move him inside on passing downs and let someone with speed rush from the edge. Loved watching Cam play, but it's past time to replace him.

I personally think we should ask him to lose little weight and use him in a part time pass rusher role at some point as his skills decline, but I doubt that’s the direction we take.

Ahem.. *cough, cough* 😳

Uhhh.. these dudes aren’t chopped liver!

:gosaints:
lol I love those guys and up until about 2 years ago Rickey has always been my favorite defensive player (before Brees came along Rickey was actually my all-time favorite Saint at any position.) And honestly until I compiled these numbers I had no idea how eerily close most of Jordan's and Jackson's numbers were. Anyway, in terms of productivity, years in the black and gold, injury history, and just all around good dude....it's hard to pick anyone over Cam. Not to mention that the Dome Patrol played on some of the greatest defensive teams in NFL history...while Cam has arguably played on some of the worst.

Years played for the Saints:
Swilling: 7
Johnson: 8
Mills: 9
Jackson: 13
Jordan: 13 (and counting)

Tackles/Sacks:
Johnson: 664/12
Swilling: 354/76.5
Mills: 934/10.5
Jordan: 682/117.5 (and counting)
Jackson: 1104/123

Games played/missed:
Swilling: 107/1
Johnson: 120/4
Mills: 133/7
Jordan: 194/2 (and counting)
Jackson: 195/2
