Boy was the start a mirage? (1 Viewer)

Team wasnt a mirage, it just showed how good it is healthy. Problem is we dont have depth. Key players to the system went down and it exposed how shallow the roster is
This is fact.

A healthy team beats the Eagles.
A team with Taysom beats the Falcons.

The mirage was making it through 2 games relatively unscathed. Creating a false sense that we would perhaps escape the crippling injury bug that has plagued the team for years.

Sadly we will never be as healthy as we were those first two games for the remainder of the season.

What I want to know is how the Saints are always the team getting depleted by injuries to key starters. When I look around the league, other teams have injuries but rarely is it a slew of the guys they can't live without. The only teams in the league missing as many vital players as the Saints are the 1-3 Rams and 1-2 49ers. The Rams and 49ers have stayed healthy by NFL standards for awhile, but this season it seems the scales are trying to balance it out.

Going into today's game without McCoy and Ruiz, then losing Hill again while Olave and Kamara play through injuries... just surreal. Like, how??? It is only week four! How is almost half the starting offense already hurt?

Some of it is boring things like being a team that plays primarily on field turf.

Some of it is a draft and free agency strategy where the team attempts to rehabilitate injury prone players in an effort to pay less.

Some of it is a financial strategy that always leaves the team having to move massive amounts of money around to get under the cap and not able to keep players who could provide quality depth.

Image if Dalton had started in Week 1 instead of Bryce. Lol

Okay well last week that should have been the game. What do you call out falconing the Falcons the next week?
We dismiss the falcons all the time and we should, that’s the nature of a rivalry but if we’re being honest we don’t usually blow them out, nor do they blow us out unless one teams season is over. Always a tough game for us. They held serve by squeaking out a win at home, up to us to protect the Dome later in the season.

One can always hope we return the favor later this year.

It certainly seems so.
No, it doesn't.

It wasn't an mirage. We are a very good team if the starters are all playing. The problem is, we have no depth. Before the season, most of us knew that the o-line couldn't handle losing one starter, let alone the two that we are missing now.

We lost by two to a divisional rival and beat a couple of bad teams. As many people expected, we're on track to be a mid-tier team.

It’s week 4. We are 2-2 along with Atl and Tampa is a game ahead. Everyone said that the first half of the season was the gauntlet. Let’s get healthy and see what happens. If this team can get healthy, they can beat anybody.
That’s a big if, but I agree.

We're 7 points away from being 4-0. We've lost 2 really close games....if we weren't competitive I would be worried but we are competitive and hopefully we start winning these close games because these last 2 won't be the only games where it comes down to 1 score.

When the Saints scored with 1min left on the clock, I turned to my father and we both said "too much time"

Every single Saints fan knew what was about to happen.

Yes. I’m not looking at the replies. Injuries are an excuse. Every team has them. We are a middle of the pack team. Didn’t buy the hype.

Defense is costing us. Who runs the defense? Very conceivable we go 2-4 or Maybe 2-5. How much longer before we hear we played hard and just need to get a win?
