Coutu is a horrible kicker. He won't even be drafted. If we draft a kicker I hope its Mehlhaff. Personally I hope we bring in Chris Gould. I think he, like his brother, will go under the radar but be a special kicker in the NFL.

brandon coutu is not as amazing as you guys are picturing. coming from a georgia fan myself, the guy is incredibly inconsistent.

sure he has a powerful leg, but he is not automatic. the guy is not worth a draft pick.

I also noticed that he looked horrible in the Senior Bowl. I have to wonder if he couldn't take the pressure of performing well when having to impress scouts and teams before the draft. Not able to deal with pressure, not a trait you want in a kicker.

Fellow UGA fan agreeing. I've suffered through worring about Coutu on Saturdays for longer than I wanted; I'd rather not repeat that on Sundays.

Yeah but we took Mike Hass and Josh Lay in the 6th round of the 2006 draft and gave up a 6th for Olindo Mare in 07. Meanwhile Nick Folk went to the pro bowl as a 6th round rookie and I believe Mason Crosby scored the most points in the league.................

I'm agreeing with you, we should have drafted Folk or Crosby.

Frankly, were Folk not a Cowboy, Crosby would have went to the pro bowl instead.

If the top kicker falls into the sixth, you have to draft him. I also think the punter from Georgia Tech Brooks can also be a valuable weapon.

Sorry, I don't believe in drafting kickers. Ever. Name one Super Bowl champion (or even a contender) for whom the kicker was a key player.

I can think of a good number of teams whose season ended with a missed FG, so it goes both ways. You can't ignore the position and though I'm not advocating Coutu, if you think there's a really good PK available in late rounds, you should probably get him if you don't already have a long-term solution.

Coudn't be any worse than Marvin Mitchell.
