He's not a free agent yet. so a sign and trade is not yet an option. However, the threat of a max deal has scared off suitors it appears.I'm really tired of this dude now. If you were that max contract you want, a team would've stepped up for a sign and trade by now. But teams see you as one-dimensional. That decreases your value.
If so, how will Ingram respond if he has to return to the Pelicans without the long-term extension he was looking for or a clear understanding of his future? Our first indication came last week when Ingram did not attend a week-long voluntary minicamp held by Pelicans players in California, which featured every player on the roster except Ingram and recent signee Daniel Theis. (Zion Williamson left early for a series of Jordan Brand events in China, which the Pelicans and the rest of the players anticipated.) The Pelicans believed Ingram would be there, but he never showed, according to team sources.

I just think it is obvious the situation is becoming a huge problem going into the season with this increasing malcontent-ness from BI. To add onto that he’s a huge injury risk and having him injured in January would be horrific. You don’t keep an unhappy injury prone player as that’s a recipe for disaster. So what do we want DG to do? Take the best offer on the table? Is there even an adequate one? How does that benefit the Pels? IMO, the best way forward is to play BI and hope he balls out to increase his value to an unknown suitor, thus creating a market for him before the trade deadline. I don't think we will get much in return right now, but in February? Who knows?
