Bring in Daniel Jones (2 Viewers)

ML/KK and Rizzi should be on the phone with Daniel Jones and his agent to sign him away from the Viking's practice squad. Jones is better than both of our backups, is still young, has the protypical size, can run and has and arm. He can finish out the season as a tryout and could benefit by sitting behind Carr for a season or two.

He's going to be someone's reclamation project, why not ours?
I have no issue with this. Sign him to a deal with next year being a prove it deal.

Because they just spent a top 10 pick on a quarterback with 3 years left on his contract and Darnold is going to get a 4-5 year deal in the 40-50mil/year range. Then the Vikings likely collect a 3rd round comp pick in 2026.

I find the Darnold situation fascinating. The Vikings know he can play in their system but they just drafted a top 10 QB. It's a tough position to be in but I do think it's likely they let Darnold go.

If they do, should the Saints consider trading/cutting Carr and going all-in on Darnold? I haven't watched him enough to know if his performance this season is sustainable or if he is really better than Carr, but he is younger.

I think I would rather just keep Carr another year and go looking for a young QB in the draft and/or hope that Rattler/Haener develop, but going after Darnold seems like the kind of aggressive move the Saints would make.

I get where you are coming from but no.

The Saints are more of a Tyrod Taylor or Mason Rudolph type signing team. Daniel Jones, while there may be something left, wouldn't come here as he wants to be with a contender, there is only four weeks left with the Saints and with the Saints, his stats would suffer for his marketing to other teams. Why hurt your resume instead of trying to help it?

Again, I get the thought but I would be floored if he signed.

If I'm Jones, I stay in Minny and sing a one year contract with them in the offseason hoping to replicate what Darnold has done and improve his value in free agency. Plus, he gets to be on a playoff team.

Agreed. Sam Darnold to me is Case Keenum 2.0.

But yes, signing Darnold would be very Saints-like.

Sign a guy that got benched by a terrible team that almost beat us yesterday? Yeah, sure. I guess we can make a bigger clown show out of this season.

Minnesota will let Darnold walk, get a pick for him, probably a 3rd rounder, and Minnesota will probably put Jones on the active roster after the 3rd week, then if he signs with someone else next season they will get a comp pick for him too.

I'm not saying we should bring Jones in and Jones is not a good QB, but he actually is much better than the clowns the Giants had in the game at QB yesterday.

If I'm Minnesota I'm bringing Darnold back next season and he will be QB1.
They probably will let JJ sit for another year. That's the ideal.

Nope. NYC is waiting for the draft, Jones is not the answer. That's part of the reason they hired Daboll.

It was reported he wanted to sign with a contender. My guess is the Vikings let Darold walk in the offseason and sign Jones to a 1 year deal to bridge/backup/mentor JJ McCarthy next year.
Vikings are not letting Darold walk. They realize you can’t have enough good qbs.
