Glad that she was released, however it’s unfortunate that in trading “the Merchant of Death” we couldn’t get another American released (in addition to Griner).

Hopefully she becomes a spokeswoman for how bad Russia treats prisoners. Meanwhile I hope that this Victor guy has terminal cancer.

The exchange took place at an Abu Dhabi airport in the early morning hours Eastern time. Griner is already on a plane back to the U.S.

I agree with the Russian having cancer. Unfortunately, I think America got soft hearted and gave Russia back a major piece for a basketball player.

I don’t care that Brittney plays basketball, or that she has spoken out against America in the past. Of all the people that we should have been after though, I thought we would have prioritized the release of the person who served their country (Whelan).

President Biden just said it wasn’t a choice and that Russia is treating Paul Whelan’s circumstances differently.

I agree with you there. I remember Obama traded 5 field commanders for a buck sergeant. Within 3-4 days they were assaulting a position my friends son was in.

I’m sure it wasn’t a choice.

“No we will only give you a basketball player for an arms dealer. That’s the fair deal.”

Who believes this crap?

Whalen got a bad conduct discharge from the Marines.

Cool. I think that happened 10 years before his arrest in Russia, right? It’s not like he was arrested in Russia while performing some nefarious activity that would have gotten him dishonorably discharged from the military.

So you do care that she’s a basketball player.
I care that she is a basketball player no more than I care that you are a moderator, or that I am a banker, or that the sky at times is blue. It’s a description.

It sure seemed like you just used her profession as a way of devaluing her life in this exchange.

The choice, according to the administration, was bringing her home on these terms or not bringing her home. I understand you don’t believe that exchange should have been made.
