Bucs OC Liam Coen — HC candidate (3 Viewers)

Now here he is in 2024, OC'ing for the Bucs who's offense is just as hot as they were last year without him. Probability says the Head Coach is more responsible for that then the OC.
Stopped reading here. On top of the obvious disparity between last year's TB offensive output to this year's, Todd Bowles is a career defensive coordinator/HC. He likely has very little to do with the offensive system and game planning. Ignorant take.

No thanks. He's getting a lot of hype that he doesn't deserve at all. Let's be clear about something. The Bucs offense has been on fire starting last season. Coen was not the OC then.

In 2022 he had a second stint as OC for the Rams when Kevin O'Connell went to head coach the Vikings. His offense was 26th in scoring. For clarity, the Rams offense was 10th best in scoring in 2021 before Coen came along and 8th best in scoring in 2023 after Coen was ran off.

He OC'd for Kentucky in 2023 and their offense wasn't good either and he was ran off. That's two failed gigs back to back.

I'd much rather an OC who came into a struggling offense and turned them into one of, if not thee best offense in the NFL. That screams leader, game planner, and great coaching.

Coen is the exact opposite. Someone who failed once to keep a good offense going, the time after to turn a mediocre offense into a good one, then was able to keep an offense good. That screams to me as a coach who is in tune and answering to a better coach with whom he gets help from.
Ridiculous , he was NOT run off from KU he left to take the TB job SMH.
TB is better by far in every offensive category this yr than last yr some you are wrong on that.
You obviously don't know how the Rams offensive coaching works, The OC there is an OC in name only. McVay is the HC and OC and calls the plays. Coen was credited with Mayfield coming in mid week and having success that Sun

You also don't know that Bowels is a DEFENSIVE HC he pretty much stays away from the offensive side . You whole post is quite inaccurate

Yeah, that's really hurt Tampa...
Word I would kill for Mayfield right about now he reminds me a lot of Drew. Not as classy for sure but he has that same killer instinct and plays with a giant chip on his shoulders and most importantly he has zero quit in him. If the score is 45 to 17 in the 4th he is still firing away like he can win. Drew was the same way.

I might be wrong I’ve been traveling all day but I kind of think Mayfield got to them Tuesday and he played on Thursday night. Either way that’s still a crazy feat of coaching.

2022 was the year Matt Stafford got hurt and the Rams went through four starting quarterbacks—including Mayfield over the last four weeks as mentioned above.

Liam has the combination of youth. He’s under 40. If successful, he can have a 15 year run like Payton.
Experience.
And knowledge about the division.
Yeah, I don't understand anyone trying to sell him short as a very legit candidate. He's young and offensive minded--has coached several different skill positions (also was a decorated college QB) and worked a long time with McVey. He's transformed the Bucs offense, and done so without Evans and Godwin for significant chunks of time. The run game turnaround has been incredibly impressive. Maybe others will emerge yet, but after Ben Johnson (who's prob not coming here) I'd have him at the top of the list (above Brady)...I think we need an offensive HC.
