The same organization did it to Lovie Smith....
You may be thinking of his time with the Bears. He was 8-24 with the Bucs.

Did you see anything thing that says they have an offense all I saw was a whole lot of not reffereing when they needed it. That offense will not get though the first round. Unless the refs are there to help. They could not figure out how to bust through a wet paper bag unless the refs help them They still suck and the OC will not have the refs on his side with New Orleans.I believe you are right. From what I understand is they don't want Bowles without Coen, so before they lose him they would promote him. Could be wrong though.
I didn't say I wanted him. Someone mentioned him and I just put my 2 cents in.Did you see anything thing that says they have an offense all I saw was a whole lot of not reffereing when they needed it. I can't see Johnson going to Jags--for the exact reason you mention the Bears, he's not attaching himself to a lame-duck GM...and that is clearly Trent Balke...possibly Poles, too?In the end, I think Johnson is going to the Jags and Vrabel to the Patriots. Hoping the Jets hire Glenn, because I don't want him with the Saints.
I don't think Johnson will go to the Bears due to GM Poles. If ownership changes their mind and fires Poles, than yes the Bears make sense.
You make a great point, but I think ownership there will get rid of Balke or demote him to appease Johnson. I think what makes the Jags attractive to Johnson are security and resources.I can't see Johnson going to Jags--for the exact reason you mention the Bears, he's not attaching himself to a lame-duck GM...and that is clearly Trent Balke...possibly Poles, too?
Coen was pretty good at Kentucky and with the Rams. It's the hot trend today, but I don't think it will last.
It was considerably different years ago. Weis was the OC for Brady (a 6th round QB) for his first four years as a starter, and they racked up three SB wins with three top-10 scoring offenses before Weis finally got an HC opportunity--at Notre Dame.
Coen has one good year with Mayfield and he's already getting HC consideration.
