If you had your choice, would you rather have an elite edge rusher who was poor against the run, or an elite interior run-stuffer who couldn't rush the passer?

In short, which do you think is easier, teaching an edge rusher to stop the run, or teaching an interior lineman to rush the passer?

If those are my only options, the elite run stuffer. Keeping an offense in 3rd and medium/long is more advantageous than 2nd or 3rd and short.

If a DT is elite enough to consistently stuff the run and man handle IOL, then I feel like they can push the OL back and slip in a sack or luck up and have the QB step up into them.

Plus with todays offenses and QB’s getting the ball out quick, edge pass rushers haven’t been feasting as much.

I would take the elite pass rusher. Nothing worse than the opposing QB holding the ball for 5+ seconds and our D-line getting stonewalled. The QB always finds an open WR or scrambles for a 1st down. The scrambles are what usually deflates the defense.
