Caesars Superdome gets its new turf for the season (1 Viewer)

I don't know, I've seemed to notice the opposite. Not only photos/videos of our players, but anytime there's a photo or clip of a player from a team we played in the Dome recently (within the last few years), it always seems to be a picture or clip from our game with them. I used to think it was just the media sly dissing us, but sometimes it's even just mundane clips of players walking to the lockerroom at the Superdome (which they used to have to cross the field to get to from where the team buses would park), so that made me think that the producers of those bits of content just like the quality of the photos/videos due to the superb lighting.

I do agree that the Dome lights are among the brightest in the league, not only on TV but in person as well. When they kick those LEDs on after the dark pregame intros, it's almost blinding from the plaza level. 🥴
Physical magazines don’t sell like they used to, but I used to buy Athlon’s preseason football guide every year in late ‘80s and through the ‘90s. Each team would get about 2-3 pages of copy, photos and a roster. The photos all came from outdoor games, like our old annual road trips to S.F. and L.A.

I could definitely see that being the case back in the 80’s, 90’s, and even through the first few years of the 2000’s. When I first started getting to go to games in 2003, the lighting the Dome had did seem a bit lackluster. It seemed very dim and there was no mistake about it the stadium didn’t allow any natural light to flow in. 😂

I’d guess around 2010 or 2011 was when I started noticing all the photos/video clips of Saints and random other players from games that occurred at the Superdome and it wouldn’t surprise me if that coincided with potential lighting improvements that were made in preparation for the upcoming Super Bowl New Orleans hosted.

The LED lights are a huge improvement. Fewer lights that produce more than the old. And they can be turned on in an instant. Old lights had to warm up. And the old lights and their angles made the turf look like it had a sheen on TV broadcasts. Now it looks vivid green like in person.
