Caleb Farley to have back surgery. (1 Viewer)

Farley (if he were 100% healthy) is the top-rated CB in this entire draft class. He’s got true lock-down ability, and the scary thing is... he’s only been playing CB for a short time. His potential is enormous!

If the back surgery sees him fall to 28, the value there may be too great to pass up (especially with the uncertainty surrounding Lattimore right now).

Farley could have the “red shirt” season to get healthy and learn the defense... then, if Latt moves on next offseason, the Saints have Farley moving forward... *and taking him at #28 gives the Saints the benefit of the extra option year on the rookie deal.

Gotta look at the long-view here... and Farley could like the Cowboys taking Jaylon Smith a few years back, only with more upside and potential.

If the Lattimore situation gets right, and he signs an extension, then Farley and Latt have the potential of becoming the best CB tandem in the league.

Just a little research o did raised questions. He sat out last season, why didn't he get the surgery the summer of 20? Is this going to be a recurring issue?

I hope we have done our due diligence.

No exact science to back surgery.
His medical evaluation will be crucial on his draft status .
As for not getting surgery, a lot of surgeries were scratched due to covid.

With respect to the many people here commenting on Low Back pain and Back surgery, This kid is probably a lot stronger and leaner. Core strength and biomechanics are massive for compression lower back injuries . Plenty can be done to resolve it for a productive sports career. Per the report this will be his second surgery. That is a red flag

Ironic that the last guy who had unfortunate medical condition, which ended up costing the Saints was similarly called Fairley

I hurt my back again in 2009. I had 6 medal rods (it was planned for 8-10 rods) put in my back in 2013 (age 63). I finally turned a corner in pain level in 2019 (age 69). I am now 71 and suffer with back pain that most cannot understand. Doctor thought he could away with the 6. But even I understood that L5/S1 was the greatest need because nothing was left there.
I first hurt my back at 16 in football. I played baseball (pitcher) until I was 30 years old, but that was all I get out of my body.
My biggest asset, aside from my arm strength talent, like Farley was my speed (9.7, 100 yard dash).

But I digress. These pro athletes are at most in their early 20s and can recover more quickly. I do not want any player with back problems at any age.
It's about dependability for me. Backs never go away. I would love a player with the talent like Caleb Farley, any other time.

This is big boy extreme contact. Sorry Caleb Farley, I want you on the SAINTS roster, but no thanks. Maybe Caleb Farley will have a Hall of Fame career.
No thank you and good luck.
