Can Hendon Hooker beat out Derek Carr in 2024? (1 Viewer)

I say no. If he sits behind Carr for the whole 2023 season and learns from Carr and Winston can he beat Carr for the starting job in 2024. He is 25 years old RIGHT NOW. So if he can't beat out Carr next season, he will be 27 the following season. Is this worth the #29 or the 40th pick? What says you?
Lol how about he make a team and throw a pass before anyone worry about him competing for starting QB. Got questions as it is on him coming from Tennesse offensive system and how it will translate to the pro level.

0% chance of that happening. Not because David the older brother of Derek is out of the league. Because not one single rookie QB in this class has a chance to do that , Derek is our future at QB . He’s a proven player , pro bowler , in his prime . He will surprise a lot of doubters this season when puts up his best season as a pro . The guy is clutch when the game is on the line . The 4th quarter comebacks prove that . We absolutely do not need to draft a QB in round one or two this season . I’m cool with a late round prospect but not reaching for one early for no reason . We have a 32 year old pro bowler at QB that finally has a chance to shine with a stable franchise . Hooker has talent but he will not unseat Derek Carr at any point in the next 4 years . We have our QB, find a late round prospect to groom because we have our guy for the next 3 to 4 years at least .

I like Hooker's arm strength and he already seems to have mastered the ability of looking off his primary target and keeping the safety guessing which is no mean feat for a raw guy playing in an unconventional offense.

But for all I like him, there's no way the Saints commit to 100 million to Carr then undermine that faith in him by taking a high rd draft pick.

Also, don't forget, because of the likely redshirt year and the lengthy learning curve, it makes a lot of sense to take Hooker in rd 1 to ensure the 5th year option. You don't want to develop him into a star just in time for him to wave goodbye and go to a divisional rival.

I think he's a lot better than the doubters think he is but honestly can't see the Saints investing a first in him.

If we use #29 on a QB Imma be livid. Signing Carr out an end to all that. Hooker is a luxury pick at this point at 29. We got bigger needs, like Peat's back up and potential replacement, a 3 tech DT and/or MLB to eventually replace Davis. Plus a Safety if Smoke Monday doesnt workout, then we need a RB too, and another receiver mayhaps...but right now?

OG, DT, RB, MLB
