CBS Ranks NFL Coaches (1 Viewer)

yep, regardless that it was unfair that he was force fed an offensive coaching staff, its his bed to sleep in. He will need exactly that, 10 wins and a deep playoff run to justify another year. We cant get ahead of ourselves, we were 2-0 last year at this time. I'm just hoping our team doesn't feel like they have arrived. They are far from arriving. All it will take is a loss to the Eagles that will have the entire football world saying, "there's the Saints we expected to see" I'm hoping they are internally driven and furiously motivated to win week in and week out.
This year’s 2-0 start feels different than last year.

it absolutely does, it feels like we're a buzz-saw for our upcoming opponents. One of the power rankings has us @ #3 overall, and its justified. We just have to remain grounded and not get ahead of ourselves.
I still wanna see how this team does in our Miami/Washington type of game (from 09)

I've enjoyed the non-nail biting games, but I guess there will be more like this than the first 2 so I'm ready to buckle up.
That's an important and sobering statement that fans need to take to heart. :9:
There is very little chance that we will see such dominating performances throughout the entire season. If anyone is thinking that this will be the norm, they are setting themselves up for a big fall. More than that, if they use our first two games to establish their level of expectation going forward, many will get disgruntled and start questioning the same aspects of our coaching that is currently being praised both inside & outside of Who Dat Land.

This is the NFL. Winning will always be tough despite what we've seen the first two weeks of the season. Just trust the system and watch how the team matures and responds to the accolades. We should be just as happy if our team wins by a last second field goal as we are when winning by three touchdowns. The latter is still a rare treat.

What if this team decides it doesn't want to have any close games?

Seriously though, it's a long season. Injuries will change the landscape of teams on both sides of the ball. Defenses will adjust and find ways to take away what is working best. Teams will get tested and will learn more about themselves through adversity. Right now, the Saints have been presented with two opportunities and they have dominated those two opportunities and that is all anyone can ask.

100% agreed, but I wanna say this:

The first two games wasn't just domination. We literally were almost perfect.

15 Strait scoring drives to start the season with Carr
No 3 and outs with Carr
Only 1 punt, which came after we put the Carr in idle, AND we already secured TWO 40 Burgers before we had to Punt once

That is not just dominant, that is INSANE. Anyone who suggests we could do that would be called crazy. Anyone who suggests the 09 or 11 Saints could do this would be crazy. Anyone suggesting ANYONE in the Super Bowl era of the NFL could do this would be run out of town and sent to an insane asylum.

We obviously won't keep that up, it is impossible. BUT, the phase 'impose your will on another team' has never been so literal with this team. The 2009 team only put up 4 40 Burgers, the vaunted 11 Saints did it 7 times. The only reason it is hard to think we can't have 2 - 5 more of these types of games this year is because of offseason perception. It is a very valid analysis of the first two weeks to think this is built like a 13+ win team.

So I agree that we should not expect to do this every week, but after two full weeks I think it is very reasonable to look at the tape and look at history and see how this is a team that could rival the best teams we have ever had.

I'll be right with you if we can play this proficiently through the Chiefs game.
That would make us a miraculously great team!

Yeah, the talk is "what can we do to stop the Saints?" versus "why can't the Saints score?"

Last year was so frustrating.

I know we will lose some games. And that is ok. It happens, because this is the NFL. It's the sharpness of each position group that is impressing me. Last year every play seemed spoiled by player and team errors. I know that even if we have a bad couple of weeks, the standard of excellence can be found again.

I am not going to go so far as to predict 11 or 12 wins, the NFL is a tough league, but I would be disappointed if we don't make the play offs.

Last year everything felt like the offensive coaches were guessing. Maybe this will work. Maybe that will. Maybe we should change this. The coaching staff was awful and had no answers for the players.

I expect we will hold our own with the Chiefs. But as the rest of the league is finding, it's hard to beat the Refs too.

I agree 100%. Last year there wasn’t a feeling of consistency week in a week out. This years offense seems like there’s a grand architect behind the scenes. Like what been said by others every motion a player makes is intentional. For example the TD screen, there were two deep WRs that merged together deep down the field, at the perfect time when the cornerbacks figured out it was a screen. Once they realized it, the Wrs turned around to block them. But it was too late for them to make a play on Ak, because the plays timing design was excellent, that Ak literally jogged untouched for 40 yards. Not to mention Ruiz, the RG was also down there in case a Cb/Saftey got free. Unreal detail with this new offense. Last year we would’ve just been happy with a 7 yard gain lol. The only thing that can derail the team is the outside noise. Hopefully DA keeps them locked in.
