League sources have said the Chargers have been involved in talks about trading for extra picks and indicated the club will remain engaged in such attempts until it's on the clock on April 26. A.J. Smith will only say, with a coy smile, "I still can wheel and deal." What the Chargers have to deal is the 27th pick in the first round, which could bring them selections in the middle of the second and third rounds. With offensive line and a third cornerback as their top needs and deep draft classes at both positions, moving down would seemingly make sense. -- San Diego Union-Tribune

If I were Loomis I'd make that trade and draft:

#10 Keith Rivers
#27 Kenny Phillips or Trevor Laws

Thoughts?

that would be sexy.......

While it would be tempting, I would only do something like that if there was a can't miss player that maybe fell a little and he is available at that pick. We need too much help on defense to start trading away our picks.

I'd wait on Laws or Phillips in the 2nd. If i'm moving back into round 1 it's for whichever corner is falling: DRC, Jenkins, Flowers, Talib, Cason...etc. etc.

not sold on Rivers

No trading backup into the 1st. If anything I want to be the one trading down picking up picks. We could use talent at alot of positions. Moreover, there's a lot of value in the 2nd round this year.

I think that Smith is talking to Atlanta, Miami and Baltimore. San Diego is lacking draft choices and don't have a big need in particular. These 3 teams may be looking to trade up and get the second quaterback of the draft.

As for the saints, I am all for trading down, if by some way we can get 3 picks in the top 60.
